The Metropolitan Police are collaborating closely with the Ministry of Justice following the widespread sharing of a video purportedly showing a sex act in a cell at HMP Wandsworth.
An investigation has been initiated by the police after an explicit video surfaced online, appearing to show a prison guard engaging in sexual activity with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth.
The controversial footage, widely circulated on social media platforms like X Twitter, depicts a female prison officer in uniform initially involved in what seems to be a sex act with the prisoner. The video then shows her having intercourse with the inmate, while his cellmate records the incident on a mobile phone in the Category B facility in southwest London.

During the recording, the cellmate, who appears to be smoking, comments, "Guys, we've made history, this is what I'm telling you." Colleagues’ voices can be heard on the officer's radio, placed on a side table, along with heaps of the prisoner's clothes scattered over a bunk bed.
The Metropolitan Police informed the Mirror that they are aware of the video, although no arrests have been made so far. A spokesperson stated: "We are aware of a video allegedly filmed inside HMP Wandsworth. A police investigation is currently underway. At this early stage, no arrests have been made. We are in close contact with the Ministry of Justice."
At one point, someone attempts to enter the cell, prompting the man filming to say, "Give me a minute, one second." The inmate filming encourages his friend to continue and momentarily turns the camera on himself, smiling and saying, "This is how we roll in Wandsworth."
It is believed that the incident occurred recently, but the HMP Prison Service has confirmed that the woman involved is no longer employed there. A spokesperson for the HMP Prison Service stated: "Staff corruption is not tolerated, and the former prison officer allegedly featured in this video has been reported to the police. Further comments are inappropriate while the investigation is ongoing." The Mirror has reached out for additional comments.
Last month, HMP Wandsworth was placed under special measures following a critical report by Chief Inspector of Prisons, Charlie Taylor. An unannounced inspection revealed that eighty percent of prisoners were sharing cells designed for one person, 44 percent tested positive for drugs, and some went without showers for five days.
