Sarah is a PhD student in Computer Science at New Mexico State University with a research focus in Reinforcement Learning and Explainable AI. Her research aims at applying Reinforcement Learning to real-world domains, such as plant irrigation.
After completing her Bachelor's of Computer Science at NMSU in 2016, Sarah worked as a Software Engineer for several years. This industry experience gave her a passion for communicating Computer Science topics to diverse audiences and for mentoring junior developers. From 2022-2024, she completed her Master's in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology, with a specialization in Interactive Intelligence. Her Master's work inspired her to continue in AI and pursue doctoral research at NMSU.
