Master's Student, Computer Science
Ricardo Manjarrez is a Master’s student in the Computer Science Department at New Mexico State University and currently a Research Assistant. He previously served as a Teaching Assistant for courses in Applied Machine Learning, Computer Science, and R Programming.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (pure mathematics track) from Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ), where he completed a thesis on stochastic differential equations in finance, focusing on a Black–Scholes derivation under the supervision of Dr. Boris Mederos. His thesis was recognized as the Best Undergraduate Thesis in Mathematics at UACJ.
His research focuses on integrating large language models (LLMs) and deep reinforcement learning with human feedback to develop domain-specific intelligent tutoring systems. He is particularly interested in deep reinforcement learning, attention mechanisms, diffusion models, and theoretical aspects of deep learning, including optimization in non-convex functions.
Currently, he is investigating approaches that combine large language models and reinforcement learning with human feedback to build adaptive, student-centered AI systems for educational applications.
