Ok, so here we go... the first website I ever publish is really just intended for 1 person. My friend, Wasif Asghar. Wasif, I have put this together because I care for you. I love you as a friend, a brother. Not because we have the same mother or faith, just that in the little time that we spent time together (sad it hasn't been more...), you demonstrate such a kindness and humility, mixed with humor and intelligence; I believe it draws people to you, and I admire you for it.
So this page is for you. I admit that some fair questions could arise... like... who are you to give me this? Why are you so presumptive that your faith is true and I need this or my faith is not? If this was so important to you, why wait until now? Well, all of those point are correct. I am afraid I don't have any good answers. I am also afraid that Christ himself is asking me the same question. And probably many of the Christian faith, especially in the US or other 1st World nations where the busyness of life and pursuits of comfort distract us from our First Love, would admit that we are far from blameless. We would have to admit that we are very poor ambassadors of our own faith. So all I can from here is ask for your forgiveness. I am still learning how to be a daily advocate for my faith in words, not just indeed.
You might ask this... why is this page called WASIF and why did you turn my name into an acronym? Well, I don't know other than I feel that God led me to it. I felt convicted that I haven't shared my faith with people I care about, almost at all. So my mind turned to you. Amy and I have prayed for you and will continue to do so that you will be healed and released from this pain. We serve a God that heals and while he does not always choose to do so, we know that he has and can.
So I am listening to this and I think of you and I start thinking of all the people to whom I should be reaching out. I am part of our men's ministry at church and we have done little to reach out to men during this COVID-19. I have been feeling like I became dormant over the last few months being home more than ever and I asked God what He would have me do to join His work. All at once, I though of your name and wishing I could share my faith with you when the acronym entered my mind... "my hearts desire is that Wasif would walk as a son in faith with Christ"... I was like WOAH!... Walk As Sons In Faith. So there you go.
I would recommend this video. This is a recording of the church service in Appleton, WI where both my daughter and son-in-law are on staff. I watch this service and was amazed to hear their Pastor speak about Walking in Faith. I truly believe he articulates better than I every could what it is to place your faith in Christ. (feel free to skip ahead to the sermon as desired)
