Bids were opened on the Farm Creek Flood Control Project, which we would now know as Farmdale Dam.  Four miles of TP&W track were re-routed as part of the process.

Robert Hornbeck and Shelby Smith constructed an airport for civilian planes on Smith's farm north of Washington on Main Street. 

Nieukirk's Cleaners opened along Farm Creek at 308 N Main St.

Don Banghart and Ralph Aberle constructed a building at 704 Peoria Street that opens as V & E Grocery.  It would later become Odea's Cleaners.

Shelby Smith took his iconic overhead photo of Washington Square in 1947.

A freak spring blizzard dumped an inch of rain and then over three inches of wind-blown snow on an unsuspecting Washington on March 24.
