The Central School at Wilmor and Newcastle was demolished in a violent storm on April 19. A new building was constructed in time for the start of the 1941-42 school year.
On April 28, 1941, natural gas was first made available for Washington residents.
WCHS officially started a baseball program. The first coach was Frank Lorton.
George Rinkenberger's tenure as Mayor came to an end as he was beaten by Independent John White in 1941. Rinkenberger would serve a total of 14 years as Mayor of Washington. White (pictured above) would be mayor until 1953.
