Dr. Alfred Alphonso opened a drug store on the north side of the Square (now 105 Wash Sq.), closing in 1907.  Various drug store replacements (Linder's, Pope's, Tully's, & Rexall) traded in the location until 1973.

The original St. Mark's Church was formally dedicated on August 26, 1877.  This church was on the northwest corner of Walnut and Elm.

The Christian Church dedicated the third construction on its High Street location, this one surviving the test of time.
