1871

In 1871 the Presbyterian Church was constructed.

It was reported in newspapers nationwide that the Cleveland Children's Aid Society sent a 134-member delegation to Washington in August.  It is unknown why this took place.

James Smith, one of Washington's pioneers arriving in 1837, went missing.

Dr. Gaius P. Wood passed away in Washington.

The founder of Washington William Holland died in 1871.  A huge parade of citizens walked from the center of town down muddy roads to the Old City Cemetery where he was buried.
