1833

In January William Holland's wife Levycy died, the day after her 39th birthday.  She died nine days after giving birth to her 14th child.  In March, William married Jane Wilson, who had come to the area with her brother William Wilson in 1829.  Jane and William would have seven children.

There was another rush of new settlers in the spring of 1833, to the point where most timbered sections of the township were peppered with log cabins.

Lawson Holland, son of William, married Elizabeth Bandy, son of Reuben, in 1833.

On February 12, 1833, the first post office opened in our area, then under the name of Holland's Grove.  The first postmaster was Charles T. Dorsey.
