Summer Research Programme for Undergraduates from Underrepresented
Groups
This is an 8-week cohort-based research experience at Warwick for undergraduate students of mathematics belonging to groups underrepresented in mathematics.
Our aim is to show women and non-binary people, members of under-represented ethnic minorities in mathematics, people from a challenging socioeconomic background and people with a disability, what it is like to do mathematics research.
How will this work?
We plan for a cohort of 9-12 students, who will all live at the University of Warwick for 8 weeks , 8 July - 30 August (a six week version starting on 8 July may be available).
You will work in a group of 2-4 on a common mathematics research problem, supervised by a member of the Warwick research staff and with the further support of a PhD student mentor. Occasional meetings will be on Zoom, but there will be plenty of in-person interaction. Problems will come from a range of mathematical areas.
In addition to the research problems, we'll provide a range of academic and social activities bringing all students together.
Participants will receive a stipend for the programme. This will be at least £1500 (and may be increased to cover provided accommodation subject to availability).
We will also reimburse round-trip train fare to Coventry.
