Facilitating a Personalized Math Lesson in the 6th Grade Classroom
Students Creating an Immigrant’s Journey
I picked these lessons as I thought they were some of the most exciting and were ones I felt like I would love to implement in my own classroom. Each lesson plan was engaging, had personalized learning, and were overall fun

Personalized Learning
She does group, partners, and individual work when they are ready
High achievers who need more to do and more to learn: She sends them to khan academy – can watch videos on certain math concepts. They demonstrate their learning through a series of questions.
Studnet struggling with concepts can play a math game to refresh their math skills
Integrating Technology (What did the students use? What other technology could the students use?)
Knowing Your Learners (Of the 6 benefits in Chapter 4, which would be important to know about students?)
It would be important to know how they learn best, how they like to learn, and what level of learning they are at. Their test scores should not be surprising.
C. What are you thinking so far? Write a paragraph. What drew you to this in the first place? What do you like from the original podcast? What will you not include? Since doing your search of resources, what would you change?
I honestly stumbled upon this while doing the assignment and ended up really liking it. I love how this original plan focuses on every type of learner. This one more than the others I watched is strong in this category. With this one, I feel like I could include some of the above resources to give students a better technology-driven lesson if it is what they want/

Personalized Learning (How could this lesson be personalized to students?)
She creates groups that include kinesthetic and tactile components like games and manipulatives
One-on-one and small group opportunities for students and their needs for lessons. Students can choose Ipads or their textbooks.
She ensures the students are learning the information in several different ways so every learner’s needs can be met at some point.
Integrating Technology (What did the students use? What other technology could the students use?)
DSR - these students have a different teacher that emails them their assignment (Computer Based)
Envision to online teacher video - video is played to students about the math concept they are learning. Then the teacher teaches them the same lesson so they hear it twice from 2 different teachers
IPads for the EY program
Knowing Your Learners (Of the 6 benefits in Chapter 4, which would be important to know about students?)
It would be extremely important to know what level your students are at in their learning to know what groups they will be in for rotations
It could be beneficial to know how this class prefers to learn (visual, kinesthetically, etc.) This could also influence the type of rotations a teacher has for group and partner work. Each school year has the potential to be very different

For this lesson, I was drawn to how she ran her classroom when t came to her groups. This teacher did an amazing job at personalized education and I loved that the students got many different types of learning. Kinesthetics, visual, audible, and more. If I am struggling from a classroom management standpoint I may exclude the game as a part of the cycles, but I do love the game and think it is vital. This lesson was really well-rounded and I'm not sure there is much I would change except for maybe using more online resources.

Energy source would be a huge thing to consider in this lesson as it is lengthy and requires creativity.

I don’t know that I would change anything really! I think depending on the age groups you could allow the option for them to make a slideshow via google slides, Microsoft, Prezi, or more, instead of a poster. GRanted These have to have their own rubrics and expectations but it does allow more choices. I like this Lesson because you are able to customize it a lot. You don't have to make it a huge project or you can. You really just get to choose.
