What is the role of technology?Technology is a tool that we as educators can use to enrich the education of our students. Technology can serve as an accommodation, differentiation, and even excitement.
What is Adaptive Technology?
Adaptive learning technology is organized around units of learning called learning objects. Adaptive technology authors create multiple learning objects and possible paths of accomplishing a learning objective (Karampiperis, Lin, & Sampson, 2006). The technology program monitors a student’s pace and performance within the adaptive learning experience to determine his or her best path to accomplish a learning objective.
List the considerations when selecting technology to use with students.
Alignment: Review the order in which learning objects and content standards are addressed in the technology tool.
Information: What data are collected from the student’s experience during the module or assessment?
Regulations: Legal regulations of collection, use, and disclosure of personal information from and about children on the internet. Privacy policies, terms of service, and end-user license agreements
Ownership: Check who owns the data that is collected through the use of technology. Free resources are not always free.
School versions: School versions of apps, software, and online accounts are different than public versions
