Sharing Beyond Our School

This concepts and learning from this maker residency continue to grow and be shared. We continue to use the different stages of design thinking to iterate the original idea. It has become a personal action research that we hope continues to grow and contribute to learning journey of many students and teachers.

We have and continue to use Design Thinking to iterate, test, and revise the original idea.

A original idea of using the Earth Day theme came from a discussion with Fayston teachers. Using strategies found in the Empathy stage of Design Thinking, Lucie, Margaret, and Darcie worked extensively with educators at both Fayston and Warren school to understand their needs as we designed the residency. The constraints at each school were slightly different. Each provided a unique opportunity to design, prototype an experience, test the prototype and revise it .

The students from Warren also shared their games in the Playground area at the Dynamic Landscapes conference on May 21.

Lucie and Margaret also shared what we learned through designing the experience at Dynamic Landscapes in a regular workshop setting.

Our goal is to continue to work with the educators who were part of this experience to make the experience even stronger and available for teachers who want to use the concepts as a STEAM infused integrated unit. Here are some artifacts and resources from this journey.
