Warden Privacy Policy
Effective date: 29 June 2026
Published by Steppe Summit
The short version
Warden is local-first. Your credentials, documents, fees, and history live only on your device. There is no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising. The only time information leaves your device is when you actively use an AI feature, or when you choose to share or export something yourself.
What we collect
Nothing on our servers. Warden has no backend, no user accounts, and no analytics or advertising SDKs. We do not build a profile of you, track you across apps, or sell data, because we never receive it in the first place.
What is stored on your device
Your vaults, credentials, requirements, fees, reminders, renewal history, and any documents you add are stored only in Warden's local database on your device, and inside any backup file you choose to export. You can delete any item at any time, or erase everything with Settings, Reset all data. Deleting the app removes all of its data.
AI features and our AI provider
Warden's optional AI features (scanning a renewal letter, detecting missing requirements, building a renewal-prep packet, the Smart Risk Score, and asking your vault) work by sending the relevant text and image content you provide to Anthropic, PBC, which operates the Claude API, solely to generate your result. This happens only when you actively use one of those features. We send only the content needed for that request, over an encrypted connection, and use it only to return your result. If you never use the AI features, no credential data is transmitted off your device. Anthropic processes that content under its API terms; see its privacy policy for details.
Camera and photos
If you scan or attach a document, that image is stored on your device with the credential. Images leave your device only if you run an AI feature on them. Warden accesses your camera or photo library only when you start a scan or attach a file.
Notifications
Renewal reminders are scheduled locally on your device through iOS. We do not run a notification server and do not send marketing messages.
Face ID and biometrics
If you turn on App Lock, iOS uses Face ID or Touch ID to unlock Warden. Your biometric data is handled entirely by iOS and is never seen by, stored by, or sent to Warden.
Purchases
Warden Pro is sold through Apple. Apple processes your payment; Warden never sees your card or Apple Account details. Your Pro status is verified on your device through Apple StoreKit and is not stored on any server of ours.
Backups
You can export an encrypted backup protected by a passphrase you choose. You control where that file goes; we never receive it, and we cannot recover a lost passphrase.
Children
Warden is a professional compliance tool and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
