Created by John Iorio, Ward 5 Councilmember Candidate, for the Fulton Community.
Meet a Ward 5 Candidate
My name is John Iorio (I+ Oreo) and I am campaigning to be the Democratic Party Candidate for Fulton's Ward 5. As a potential Ward 5 candidate, I bring an understanding of community and city partnerships, grant writing skills to help obtain upgrades and improvements that are needed in the city, overseeing complex finances, an understanding of poverty and economics, and have 20+ years of creating programming and connections that benefitted the city I lived in. I've seen what innovation and grants have brought to the Buffalo area and I'd like to see the same successes in Fulton. I'm a hard worker, creative, and someone who looks for alternatives when traditional pathways are not a valid option.
I am a 1996 G. Ray Bodley graduate, educator, husband, and father of four. I returned to Fulton three years ago after spending over two decades as an elementary school teacher, professor, and adult education administrator. My career journey led me to Syracuse City Schools, where I took on the role of overseeing their public adult education program. I am a graduate of Cazenovia College and the University of Buffalo where I completed my doctorate last year. I'm also a volunteer with the Volney Volunteer Fire Department and The Rescue Mission of Syracuse.
I support common ground and common-sense politics, and believe that parties must collaborate to get things done locally. This is what Fulton needs in order to grow and support its community members.

Common Ground Platform to Support Ward 5 and All Fulton Residents
Working for Common Ground is something all Fulton Community members should be doing to make our city a play where everyone has a place to learn, grow and maintain their roots. Though I belong to the Democratic Party, I truly believe that the collective understanding and working on issues is the only way to move our city forward.
My goal as your future Ward 5 Councilmember is about finding common ground and ways to support Ward 5 and Fulton as we seek to find our place in the 21st Century. Here is part of my platform as we move together:
1. Ensure that ward 5 is safe and secure for its residents.
2. Help ward 5 and Fulton residents understand and have access to community, state and federal support for stable lives.
3. Promote, encourage, and find ways to welcome new business and industry into the community for jobs and financial growth.
4. Support local business and industry so they can continue to be part of what makes Fulton and stable, thriving community.
5. Find economic and community opportunities through grants and political outreach that will enhance all aspects of the City of Fulton.
Fulton Community Newsletters
Every other week, a new newsletter will come out that will have information that benefits Ward 5 and Fulton Community Members. I am doing this so that you can have the support you need and know that there are many community and government agencies that support you and your family.
