There are currently two places to play Direct Strike
The first place to start off playing is on Warcraft 3's B.net. Bnet is the easiest way to start learning the game. There are always lobbies up or you can even host your own game! The games you play on bnet will not effect your w3champs stats. The games will effect your account profile; such as levels, icons, unit skins, and direct strike coins. Get that money honey! Bnet is low stakes and the place to be when you are trying out new strategies.
W3Champions is an launcher for Warcraft III: Reforged.
It works separately from the Battle.net Versus ladder when it is installed and you are able to play on both interchangeably. W3Champions includes a separate game launcher used to start the game instead of the Battle.net Desktop App.
All of the games played on W3C are considered more competitive games and every game you play will be recorded on the W3C leader board. The environment is not the same as bnet. The players on W3C will expect you to have an idea of how to play. If you are learning, it is suggested that you play on bnet first or play with the guide open.
To play on W3Champions you need the following:
Blizzard account with legitimate and official version of Warcraft III: Reforged attached
Battle.net Desktop App & Warcraft III: Reforged installed
Compatible operating system
Recommended: Windows 10/11 Minimum: Windows 7
Recommended: macOS 12 Monterey Minimum: macOS 10.14 Mojave
W3champions GUI is compatible with Linux. Launcher may not work
How to install and play
Windows
1) Go to https://w3champions.com/ and click DOWNLOAD NOW!
2) Select Windows
3) Find the W3Champions_[Version Number]_x64_en-US.msi file you downloaded and run the automatic installer
4) Start Launcher as administrator
5) Select Europe or China route
6) Log into the Blizzard popup window with your Battle.net account
7) Go to the Settings tab and make sure the Reforged and Battle.net paths are correct or set them by pressing the folder icon
Note: Installations on external drives or cloud storage services such as OneDrive or iCloud may not work
8) Follow instructions and wait for Bonjour update and Flo ping optimization to finish
Note: Close Legacy Launcher before running Beta Launcher
Mac
1) Go to https://w3champions.com/ and click DOWNLOAD NOW!
2) Select Mac
3) Find the w3champions-Setup-[Version Number].dmg file you downloaded and run the automatic installer
4) Run Legacy Launcher
5) Go to the Settings tab and make sure the Reforged and Battle.net paths are correct or set them by pressing the folder icon
Note: Installations on external drives or cloud storage services such as OneDrive or iCloud may not work
6) Go to the W3champions tab and click the green Play button
7) Enter with the new button that appears in the Reforged main menu
8) Follow instructions and wait for Flo ping optimization to finish
Linux
Visit the linux-support channel and read the pinned messages or ask other users for help with Lutris and Bottles configurations
