Ensemble Descriptions
Marching Band
Marching Band takes place during the fall semester. Marching band is required for all high school students. Students perform at all home football games and pep rallies. Marching band is the most visible ensemble at Wapsie Valley and is a great opportunity for students to represent the band department for the community. Information for band camp and season is linked below.
Concert Band
Concert Band takes place after marching band through the end of the school year. Students perform at 4 concerts throughout the year, commencement, and culminates in the annual IHSMA Large Group Festival in May. Students have the option, but are not required, to perform at the IHSMA solo/ensemble contest in April.
Pep Band
Pep Band takes place from December-February during basketball season. Students perform at most double header varsity games. Students also have the opportunity to play at Wells Fargo Arena at the state basketball tournament if the team qualifies.
Jazz Band
Jazz Band is a new, optional ensemble at Wapsie Valley. More information will be coming at the end of the marching band season.
