About

After 20 years in education, I retired from full-time teaching in July 2020, culminating my career as a Teacher on Special Assignment (Literacy) for the Rio School District in Oxnard, Calif.

My previous schools were: Cabrillo Middle School (Ventura), Harvard-Westlake School (Studio City), Foothill Technology High School (Ventura), and Balboa Middle School (Ventura).

I've taught grad students at UCSB, journalism advisers from across the country and world in New York City, and teachers in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Prior to starting my teaching career, I was a communications consultant specializing in K-12 education clients. My first job out of college was as a reporter and columnist for the Ventura County Star-Free Press. Sometimes I still write here.

In the fall of 2020, I moved to the beautiful city of Eugene, Oregon, with my husband of 34 years, and our dog and two cats. I love to walk along the Willamette River, cook, read and write. I can't wait to really explore the city when COVID days are over!
