2011年我想以铜元局为背景，做一个所谓的和艺术有关的东西，当地居民随时可能会被搬走，我就想把他们的住房内部拍下来，用非常高清的方式，还原到最真实。当时去拍的时候呢，居民很配合有的还要求给他们留一张。算是一个承诺，我把照片洗成小的，打印装裱送给他们作为纪念，他们觉得挺有纪念意义。这是2011年第一个和他们有联系的活动。我测算了一个家庭的房间的面积在16.9平方米，就以16.9作为名称。
16.9M², the standard area of a staff dormitory of Chongqing Changjiang Electrical Engineering Plant, in which many families have been living for 60 years. "The dormitories will be pulled down shortly!", many residents have been talked about this topic for the past few years. The future is unclear and the past is unbearable. As I promised to give each of the residents a photo as a memorial, hence we have this event.
16.9M²是重庆长江电工厂职工宿舍的标准面积，很多家庭在16.9平方米内生活了60年。“快要拆了！”成为近些年居民的主要话题，未来渺茫，过去不堪。因我答应要把洗好的照片送一张给每个被拍家庭作纪念，所以有了这次活动。

千万别把你看到的王海川的照片认为是一组怀旧老照片，或者理解为一套普通家庭日常照。当然，他也不是对物的特别关照，或者是修行式的静观。他的相机巨细靡遗，但他并不是让你去专注墙上的一粒灰尘，或者是一丝蛛网，尽管这些往往是勾住你，打动你的地方。但这并不是王海川想要做的，这些照片对他来说，仅仅是他的艺术项目《铜元局》的一小部分，一个开头，一扇窗户。那些没有展示出的，你看不到的或许才是最有意思的。

Try not to take Wang Haichuan’s picture as nostalgiaic type, or a series of family photos. Of course, he is neither paying particular care to objects nor observing in a Monastic way. His camera reveals everything to the details, but the purpose is not to draw pepole to focus on a speck of dust or a spider web,they may be attractive or touching ,however this is not Wang Haichuan’s intention . These pictures are only a small part, or a window of the project Tongyuanju,for him, those not shown and seen could be more interesting.
