Hey we were just featured as a guest writer in the newspaper!
On January 15th the mayor of Waltham made the "updated policy for use of the Waltham Common by organizations for events, etc. " that restricts events taking place in the common limited to under four hours. This new restriction has many negatives, such as affecting the local economy in a negative way and the community being disrupted due to community events being shortened making it much less accessible to some people. The new restriction affects the economy since local business such as restaurants or venders in or near the event will have less foot traffic than before meaning less customer and revenue.
About
We are local high schoolers who love to attend events in the common such as Steampunk festival or Pride. So we decided to create this petition to voice our opinion on the matter and to show how the people of Waltham and attendees of events feel about this new rule! So if you would like to it would be great if you could sign the petition. Additionally if you have any way to help us feel free to contact us using the link below, we also heavily encourage individuals to reach out to the mayor or city counselors to show how you feel. Thanks for the support.
