Now that we have returned to a live conference, many of our far-flung Wallies wanted to share in the joy. If you're one of them, register before July 1 to view evening readings via Zoom.
The conference begins on July 14; the last night of readings is Saturday, July 20.
Although we are not charging a specific fee for viewing readings, we hope a donation to Friends of Writers will reflect your appreciation for this opportunity. $10 seems like a good starting point, and of course more would be welcome (or if you can’t swing it, no worries, just come).
Click here to donate. (Note: Donating doesn't mean you're registered. Please see below.)
Zoom Readings
Please check your email for an announcement from Friends of Writers (FOW) with the subject line, "2024 Alumni Conference Virtual Readings Available!" In that email is a blue button to "Register for Virtual Readings." Click it! Then fill out the info on the registration page and you are in. Easy!
If you didn't receive such an email (and yes, you checked your spam folder and did a search of all your email), please contact FOW. Or just wait a few days for a reminder to arrive.
The only part of the Alumni Conference we will broadcast is the evening readings via Zoom. You will be able to view the readings and use the chat, but you will be muted during the readings. Afterwards you will be unmuted to share your appreciation.
Sorry, you will only be able to view the evening readings. We don't have the bandwidth (literally, figuratively, & literarily) for including remote readers as well. In 2023 we had some readers present via Zoom, but they had registered for the conference and either had contracted COVID and were quarantined to their ugly dorm rooms, or decided to stay home because of COVID concerns. Thank you for understanding.
Registration for remote participants closes on July 1.
Readings begin at 7:30 pm Pacific Daylight Time and end around 9:00 (including a 15 minute break). Please adjust for your time zone. We suggest you arrive 10-15 minutes early so the host can let you in and you can get settled.
THE PRIVACY THING: Remote readings are mostly only for graduates, faculty, and staff of the Warren Wilson/Goddard MFA Program for Writers, but if you have a trusted associate who would like to watch with you, sure, of course, no problem. But please do not post the registration link to distribution lists or other public places. Please do not record the readings without permission from the organizers and the readers.
But most of all, please come and enjoy your fellow Wallies!
