You will receive a class newsletter at the beginning of each month to keep you informed of important dates, events, learning targets, standards that will be taught that month + classroom happenings!
Each week you will receive multiple Talking Points messages from me with important dates, reminders, things that will be coming home in folders and academic updates!
Your student will have a Pink Take Home Folder starting on their first day of school! This is to come to and from school in their book bag each day! This is where you will find their daily work from each day, their weekly Letterland Student List, First Grade Essential Skills checklist, monthly calendar in the back, communication log and sight words by quarter. Please let your child share his or her work with you and review and discuss any written comments. Papers that come home that are marked with a number indicate it was an important assessment to match report card standards.

This is the Wake County school communication tool that we will be using! You will be able to join the app once you receive the first message with the link from me the first week of school! This is a easy texting communication tool that I will use to communicate with you! This will be the fastest and easiest way to reach me!
Students should take their time at home to play and spend with their families and not be overwhelmed with homework! Students will only be expected to read a story from their reading binders to you each night and practice their weekly spelling words in any manner you choose as a family! This should take no longer than 20 minutes.
We love to celebrate birthdays! You can send birthday treats (store bought) with your child that morning or drop them in the office that day. Communicate with teacher the day you are planning! You will need to supply the plates or napkins to go along with the treat. We will celebrate this as a class.
Students are to bring a snack separate from their lunch each day + a water bottle labeled with their name! Students should be able to find this and open independently! Send in a ziploc/something that can be thrown away easily! No glass containers!
