You can apply to as many colleges as you want – there is no limit unlike university.
There is usually the option to apply for more than one course, a first and second choice. However, your second choice is not usually looked at unless you are rejected for your first choice.
Most popular courses are Hair, Beauty, Childcare, Legal Services and Sport.
You will need to apply online and have a personal statement for your application.
You will be interviewed and, in some cases, you will have to take part in an activity as part of your selection, e.g. assessed sports activity.
Beauty requires a mood board to show your creativity and for Art courses you will need a portfolio.
Some courses such as Engineering, Construction and Computing use aptitude testing.
Application Dates
Applications for most colleges usually start at the beginning of January, except Forth Valley College which opens for applications end of October.
Perth College and Scottish Rural University College open for applications along with UCAS. You will need to apply through UCAS for HN level courses with them.
It is best to get your application in to colleges early as they operate more on a first come first interviewed basis. popular courses can fill up by March.
