Our town is full of attractions and tourist activities! There are so many "must visit" spots and interesting locations to check out! Here are our favorites.
One of our main town attractions is hiking! Walker Creek is a rural town surrounded by beautiful nature, including forests and small mountains! We have beautiful wildlife, gorgeous vistas, and very well maintained trails!
While we do have multiple parks and playgrounds, Waterfield Park is our most advanced and largest one. We have two full playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, a baseball field, a track, and beautiful nature paths with a river running alongside it!
The original encampment that began Walker Creek, the Sanders mine, was restored decades ago and still stands! Go visit the old mine, homes of founders of Walker Creek, the original mill, and other historical buildings!
Classic American and Italian cuisine make this the best spot to eat in all of Walker creek! Built with wood interiors and fancy decor, it's not your traditional American diner, but it's memorable and delicious!
Founded in 1909, the Walker Creek Library is one of the largest buildings in Walker Creek! It is home to tens of thousands of books, the meetings of many organizations, and much more! It has been consistently renovated to be more beautiful, well organized, cozy, and advanced, with it even containing an entire computer lab! Pretty surprising for a small town, isn't it?
The Robert Farm is one of the oldest farms in town, and for a small fee you can experience what it it's like to be a farmer in Walker Creek! Milk cows, plow fields, feed horses, churn butter, and participate in many other farm activities! This experience is personalized to anyone who participates!
The Astronomy Tower is the most high-tech building in all of Walker Creek! While it may be surprising for a small, rural town to have such an advanced installation, it is very necessary for us! Watching for the Harvest Star or planning hunting cycles are very important! We also have several clubs, like the Astronomy Club and Science Club that use it regularly! It is highly guarded and usually off limits to humans but you can sign up for a tour at the Walker Creek Tourism Bureau's main office on Main Street!
Rosie's Bar is the single most popular shop in all of Walker Creek! Known for its cozy, welcoming feeling and amazing employees, as well as its selection of food and alcohol, Rosie's Bar is popular with everyone!
Walker Creek's Church was established in 1896, right after the settlers first arrived to form Sanders Mine. This church has largely stayed unchanged since then and has been in use the whole time!
Every week, the Walkers Creek Farmers Market occurs on Main Street! Farmers set up their tents and stands and sell fresh, organic produce for a reasonable price! We recommend you visit if you come to Walker Creek, there's nothing quite like fruit and vegetables picked just hours before! There's nothing better than supporting local business!
Every year on July 16, come on down to the Lake Denton Kayak Race! 45 participants from around Walker Creek County formed into 15 teams participate in 3 challenges: a race across the lake, completing 3 laps, and collecting as many buoys as possible which are located around the lake. 15 unique participants are selected for each race, one from each team. It's one of the most exciting events of the year!
This is definitely our main attraction, but make sure not to miss out! It only happens once a year, on October 23! Come for a night of dancing, games, food, danger, and more! We always decorate Main Street, get dressed up, and have fun! To learn about the history of the Harvest Festival, visit the History page!
Note: The Walker Creek Tourism Bureau has made these recommendations of their own volition. There was no monetary exchange to promote any business or location on this page. Thank you.
