We invited everyone to attend the Annual General Meeting of TheWalkingClub.  This will be held on Sunday November 1, 2026 at noon.  The location is at The Canal Centre in Mytchett. There will be a walk before the AGM.

Surrey County Council has confirmed that the café will remain at the Canal Centre, but that there will be a change of operator following a competitive tender process.

Surrey County Council has appointed Snug & Bean Café as the new operators to take over this loved waterside spot.   We can look forward to: high-quality coffee, homemade food, traditional café favourites, with South African-inspired treats, desserts, and convenient grab-and-go options.

SCC expects the café to close temporarily and to re-open in November 2026.  While the café is closed, the Canal Centre team will be offering hot drinks and sweet treats between Monday and Friday.

Lyme disease is an illness caused by being bitten by a tick that is infected with a germ (bacterium) called borrelia. Ticks can be very small and often do not hurt when they bite, so it is quite easy to have a tick bite without noticing. Many people who develop Lyme disease cannot remember being bitten by a tick. Left untreated, the bacteria can spread to other areas of the body. In some cases the infection can cause serious symptoms - often months after the initial tick bite.

Big changes to the UK landline telephone system

The UK landline telephone system is undergoing a major change. The telephone service, which has been in place for well over a hundred years, is being replaced by an internet-connected digital telephone service by Jan 2027.
