We invited everyone to attend the Annual General Meeting of TheWalkingClub. This was held on Sunday October 12, 2025 at noon. The location is at The Canal Centre in Mytchett. There was a walk before the AGM.

Walkers should be aware of the increased risks from wildlife when out walking in heathland. Ticks are more active in warmer weather and walkers should check for ticks after walking. Ticks can carry Lyme disease - see below.
Lyme disease is an illness caused by being bitten by a tick that is infected with a germ (bacterium) called borrelia. Ticks can be very small and often do not hurt when they bite, so it is quite easy to have a tick bite without noticing. Many people who develop Lyme disease cannot remember being bitten by a tick. Left untreated, the bacteria can spread to other areas of the body. In some cases the infection can cause serious symptoms - often months after the initial tick bite.
