The patient is instructed to recline comfortably on the Droni, a specifically designed platform for Panchakarma therapy. Medicated oil (Taila) is gently warmed to a moderate temperature based on the patient's tolerance and comfort level. This warmed oil is then applied in a rhythmic massage, following the natural direction of the body (Anuloma). The session concludes with the application of medicated powder (Choorna) on the head.
The entire procedure lasts approximately 45 minutes, after which the patient is advised to rest for an hour before taking a bath in lukewarm water.
Process:
During this Panchakarma treatment, the patient reclines on the Droni, a specially designed platform. Strips of linen are immersed in lukewarm medicated oil and subsequently wrung out over the patient's body from a predetermined height. The oil is directed to flow over the body in a rhythmic manner, accompanied by a gentle massage. This therapeutic approach is effective in alleviating conditions associated with Vata Dosha, including manifestations such as spondylosis, arthritis, back pain, IVDP, etc. The duration of this treatment typically ranges from 30 minutes to one hour.
There are two types of medicated enema procedures based on the medication employed: 1. Kashaya Vasthi and 2. Anuvasana Vasthi. Beyond the choice of agents, both procedures can be classified as medicated enemas.
KASHAYA VASTHI:
This is administered on an empty stomach. A specially prepared medicated decoction serves as the enema agent, and it is followed by the consumption of well-cooked rice.
ANUVASANA VASTHI:
Conducted after the intake of food, this procedure involves the use of medicated oil or ghee as the enema agent.
Process:
The patient, having an empty stomach, is sedated and positioned comfortably on a bed. A prescribed dose of medication, either in the form of Taila (oil) or Swarasa (juice), is introduced through each nostril. The medication travels to the mouth and is then expectorated along with sputum. Following the treatment, a rest period of 15 minutes is recommended.
Process:
The patient reclines on a Droni (wooden table) with the neck and head comfortably positioned. Subsequently, a continuous flow of liquid medicine is gently poured onto the forehead from a predetermined height through a specially designed apparatus known as Dhara Chatti. This therapeutic procedure lasts for approximately 45 minutes to one hour. Depending on the specific disease condition, Dhara can be administered to the entire body or focused on a particular body part. Various agents such as medicated oil, milk, herb extract decoction, coconut water, etc., are utilized for Dhara. It is further categorized based on the concentration on body parts, with Sarvaanga Dhara targeting the whole body and Shiro Dhara focusing solely on the head.
