Are you planning to plant trees? We are calling on landowners to nominate their locations in the Waitaki District where they would like to plant native trees. We will work with landowners and landscape architects to accumulate all these areas into a single coherent project for tree planting across the Waitaki District which will help for applications to help fund the plantings. The first step is to indicate on our map where on your land you might want to plant. We will then contact you to plan out the details.
Instructions:
Navigate to your preferred location on the map.
Click to select the polygon tool.
Draw a polygon around the area you would like to be planted in trees.
Enter your details.
Click Send.
Your polygon and details are shared only with Rotary, The Waitaki Community Gardens, funders and nurseries. Your details are not made public.
On the 31st of January 2021 we will close nominations and compile the potential planting locations. We will then contact landowners to confirm their willingness to participate and work out the details such as what plantings are suited to each site, budget constraints, planting considerations, maintenance considerations, and carbon credit considerations. This way we will match each parcel to the requirements of different funds to build a comprehensive district wide planting project which will enhance the biodiversity, water quality and landscape amenity value of our place.
This is a project of The Waitaki Community Gardens and The Rotary Club of Oamaru.
