FCCLA is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that is dedicated to students involved in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) and Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. Common careers associated with FCCLA are education, law and justice, business, accounting, culinary arts, hospitality and tourism, design, and health/nutrition, however, all students involved in any CTE course throughout all academies are welcome.
In addition to CTE promotion, FCCLA students often, but are not required to, participate in the state/national leadership conference, more commonly known as CTSO. This is where students can compete in any of the CTE based categories by creating a project or presentation pertaining to any FCS careers. See website for more information: https://fcclainc.org/compete/star-events
FCCLA also regularly does various types of fundraising including personal, club-wide, and for the community. See fundraising for more information. Service activities are regularly done for the community. All are listed under current events (home page) and on the calendar .
To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.
The Waipahu chapter of FCCLA focuses on servicing our community; both local and statewide. We plan and commit to service activities every quarter, and each member is required at least 3 hours of community service per quarter.
Our chapter is primarily made up of students in the Academy of Professional and Public Services and Health and Nutrition Pathway, however all Waipahu students enrolled in any CTE class in any academy or pathway are welcome to become members of FCCLA.
