FAQ

To sign up for our email list, please ask to join the waikolobridgeplayers@googlegroups.com group . Once on this list, you will be emailed when signups open for each of our games. 

This is easiest if you already have a google gmail account. 

However, if you do not have a gmail account, you can still join the group either by emailing the manager at waikoloabridge@gmail.com and asking to be invited, or by following these google help instructions.

There are several advantages to using google groups over a manually managed list (which is how we previously handled emails). These include: 

• People can subscribe and unsubscribe themselves without the managers being involved. 

• A player can email a request for a partner without the manager being involved without knowing the email addresses of the other players (an ACBL requirement) 

• The use of a header makes it easier to filter messages from this groups when received 

• The footer provides standard, helpful information on every email sent

We use signupgenius to manage the signups for our games and make sure that we do not have more players than we can fit in our limited space. 

You can sign up for 

• Monday games 

• Thursday games 

Put your name and your partner's name in the slot, 1 slot for each partnership. Then add your name and email so you get confirmation. 

You do not need to have a signupgenius account to register, but it does make it easier if you are a regular (and you can make changes if needed). 

Notes: 

• If the date is in the past, we do not currently have a game scheduled. Check soon (the Monday schedule is usually available by end of day Tuesday, and the Thursday game by Saturday afternoon) 

• If there are no open slots, we do not have room for you to play. However, you are welcome to kibitz 

If you have a signupgenius account, you can change your reservation by going to their website, signing in, and editing your registration. If you encounter problems, you can email the manager at waikoloabridge@gmail.com 

You can send an email to waikoloabridgeplayers@googlegroups.com asking for a partner and providing your name, email, and phone number. That will alert everyone who has signed up for our notifications and is the best way to find someone to play with. 

Note that you can only send an email to the group from the email account that has joined the group. All other emails will be rejected as we do not want the group to be spammed by outsiders. 

Please do NOT send email to the manager and expect them to find you a partner.  In general, the managers will just ask you to send an email to the group since that is what they would do. 

There are two possible issues: 

1) You are not signed up for the google group. As of July 2025, all signup and other club emails occur through the google group. We sent an email to our list at that time requesting people sign up - but not everyone got that email. If you didn't sign up, please refer back to the question above about how to join the group.

2) You are on the list and the emails are going to your spam folder.  If you check your spam folder and see the emails there, then please report them as not spam. This encourages your email program to correctly classify them. You can also add the google group and the senders to your contact list, which reduces the chances of them being sent to spam. For additional options, you can search your specific email provider (eg for gmail account)

We are sorry to see you go, however, we realize circumstances change and people move on. 

You can remove yourself from our list by going to your google groups page at https://groups.google.com/ and leaving the group.
