These Terms and Conditions explain the rules for using WagePal: Shift & Pay Tracker.
By installing, opening or using WagePal, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use WagePal.
WagePal is an Android app for hourly and shift workers. It helps users track jobs, shifts, hours worked, paid hours, unpaid breaks, annual leave, pay cycles, payday dates, pay enhancements, local records, reminders and estimated gross pay.
WagePal is not payroll software. WagePal does not provide tax, legal, financial, employment, banking, accounting or payroll advice.
WagePal provides estimated gross pay only.
WagePal does not calculate or provide:
• Net pay
• Tax
• National Insurance
• Pension deductions
• Student loan deductions
• Court orders
• Benefits calculations
• Payroll deductions
• Holiday entitlement or remaining leave allowance
• Holiday accrual
• Statutory holiday pay
• Contractual holiday pay
• Sick pay entitlement
• Legal employment entitlements
• Official payroll records
• Banking or payment services
All estimates are based on the information entered by you. This may include hourly rate, shift times, breaks, annual-leave dates, paid or unpaid leave status, leave hours, job settings, pay cycle, payday rules, currency, bank-holiday settings and pay enhancements.
WagePal estimates may not match your actual payslip, employer records, rota, contract, payroll system, annual-leave records, holiday-pay calculation or bank payment. You should always check WagePal estimates against official records from your employer, payroll provider, accountant, adviser or another relevant source.
Depending on the version you use and the features available to you, WagePal may allow you to:
• Set up jobs
• Record job names, employer names, hourly rates, currencies, pay cycles, payday rules and usual breaks
• Log completed and upcoming shifts
• Add shift start times, finish times, breaks, notes and tags
• Record paid or unpaid annual leave
• Record annual-leave dates, hours and related pay information
• Track worked hours, paid hours, unpaid breaks, shift counts and estimated gross pay
• Include paid annual-leave estimates in pay-period summaries, analytics and Payslip Estimate where applicable
• View pay-period summaries and upcoming payday information
• Add pay enhancements such as overtime, weekend, night shift, bank holiday or fixed-amount extras
• Receive optional local reminders and device notifications
• View limited recent notifications and feature announcements in a local in-app Notification Centre
• Use local privacy and security controls
• Export selected information
• Create and restore local backups
• Use Pro features where available
WagePal allows you to record paid or unpaid annual leave.
For paid annual leave, WagePal may provide an estimated gross amount based only on the information entered by you. This may include the selected job, leave dates, paid hours and hourly rate entered for the annual-leave record.
WagePal does not calculate or determine:
• Your holiday entitlement
• Your remaining leave allowance
• Your holiday accrual
• Your statutory holiday pay
• Your contractual holiday pay
• Whether your employer must pay a particular annual-leave record
• Your employment rights relating to annual leave
Annual-leave estimates may not match your employer’s payroll calculation, employment contract, holiday-pay method or payslip.
You should confirm your leave entitlement, leave approval, paid hours, hourly rate and holiday-pay calculation with your employer.
Recording annual leave in WagePal is a personal record only. It does not mean that the leave has been requested, approved, processed or paid by your employer.
WagePal does not:
• Guarantee that any pay or annual-leave estimate is correct
• Guarantee that your employer will pay the amount shown
• Decide whether your employer has paid you correctly
• Calculate your official holiday entitlement or remaining leave allowance
• Calculate statutory or contractual holiday pay
• Confirm whether annual leave has been requested, approved or paid
• Know or confirm your official rota or work schedule
• Guarantee that a shift has been forgotten
• Guarantee that notification or reminder information is correct
• Replace your payslip, contract, rota, timesheet, annual-leave records, payroll department, accountant, solicitor, union, adviser or official government guidance
• Provide legal, tax, payroll, financial, banking, accounting or employment advice
• Contact your employer or resolve pay or annual-leave disputes
• Store your wage, shift, annual-leave, job, employer, note, notification or pay records on WagePal servers in the current local-first data model
You are responsible for:
• Entering accurate job, rate, shift, break, annual-leave, pay-cycle, payday, currency and enhancement information
• Entering the correct annual-leave dates, paid or unpaid status, tracking method, leave hours and hourly rate
• Checking whether your employer’s real pay and annual-leave rules match the settings you enter
• Confirming your leave entitlement, leave approval, paid hours and holiday-pay rate with your employer
• Reviewing WagePal estimates before relying on them
• Comparing WagePal estimates with official employer, payroll, payslip, contract, rota, timesheet and annual-leave records
• Checking reminders and notifications against your real rota, annual leave, employer instructions, payday information, payslip and other official records
• Recording your shifts and annual leave accurately even if a reminder is not delivered
• Keeping your device secure
• Reviewing your Android notification and lock-screen settings
• Keeping exported files, screenshots and backups safe
• Deciding whether to include sensitive wage, employer, shift, annual-leave or personal details in support emails
• Following any workplace rules, confidentiality duties or laws that apply to information you enter, export, share, email or back up
You should not use WagePal as your only record if you need official evidence for legal, payroll, tax, benefits, immigration, accounting, financial or employment matters.
WagePal is designed to be privacy-first and local-first.
For normal use, WagePal stores your data on your device. This may include:
• Job names
• Employer names
• Hourly rates
• Currencies
• Pay cycles
• Payday rules
• Bank-holiday regions
• Shift dates and times
• Break durations
• Worked hours and paid hours
• Estimated gross earnings
• Shift notes and tags
• Pay enhancements
• Annual-leave dates
• The job associated with an annual-leave record
• Paid or unpaid annual-leave status
• Annual-leave tracking method
• Annual-leave hours or minutes
• The hourly rate entered for an annual-leave record
• The resulting estimated gross annual-leave amount
• First name
• Optional profile photo reference
• Settings, privacy settings, App Lock settings, backup settings and saved defaults
• Notification-category preferences
• Selected reminder times
• Limited recent notification history
• Notification read or unread state
• Local notification scheduling or delivery state where required
• Limited local feature-announcement records and dismissal state
WagePal does not require a WagePal account, username, email login or password for normal use.
Annual-leave records, calculations, notification calculations, preferences, scheduling information, feature announcements and in-app notification records are processed and stored locally on your device.
WagePal’s current local app model does not upload your jobs, shifts, annual leave, wages, payday details, backups, feature-announcement state or notification history to WagePal servers.
If you uninstall WagePal, clear app data, factory reset your device, lose your device, damage your device or change device without a valid backup, your local WagePal data may be lost.
WagePal may allow you to delete shifts, annual-leave records, jobs where supported or all local WagePal data from your device.
Deleting, resetting, clearing or replacing applicable local app data may also remove:
• Annual-leave records and associated estimates
• Local notification history
• Notification read or unread state
• Notification scheduling information
• Local notification delivery state
• Local feature-announcement records and dismissal state
Notification history, feature-announcement state and related notification state are excluded from WagePal backup files and may not return when a backup is restored.
Deleting data may be permanent. If you delete data and do not have a valid backup, it may not be recoverable.
Where backup features are available, WagePal may allow Standard backups, Encrypted backups, manual backups and automatic Standard backups.
Standard and Encrypted backups may include annual-leave records and related information, depending on the backup version and features available.
Standard backups are not encrypted by WagePal. They may contain sensitive wage, work, employer, shift, annual-leave, note, settings and pay-estimate information. You should keep Standard backup files private and store them securely.
Encrypted backups use a password chosen by you. WagePal does not store that password. If you forget the password, WagePal cannot recover the encrypted backup.
If you choose to save backups in a cloud folder, file-sync app, work profile, file manager or third-party storage app, that provider’s own terms and privacy practices may apply.
Restoring a backup may replace local WagePal data rather than merging it. This may include replacing existing annual-leave records. Read restore warnings carefully before continuing.
Notification history, feature-announcement state, notification read or unread state and local notification delivery state are excluded from WagePal backup files.
Where export features are available, WagePal may allow you to create PDF or CSV files.
Exports are user-created documents. They may contain visible gross-pay estimates, shift details, annual-leave records, paid or unpaid leave status, leave dates, leave hours, estimated annual-leave pay, job names, employer names, notes, dates, hours, rates, pay enhancements and other information depending on the export.
Exports are not official payslips, official payroll records, official annual-leave records, legal documents or guaranteed proof of pay or leave entitlement. They are estimated gross-pay summaries based on your saved WagePal data.
When you save, share, email, upload, print or send an export, you are responsible for where it goes and who can access it.
Privacy Mode, App Lock or on-screen masking may not apply to exported files.
Where available, WagePal may offer Privacy Mode, App Lock, biometric unlock, device-credential unlock, recent-app preview controls, screenshot controls, export protection or delete-data protection.
These features are designed to reduce casual exposure of sensitive information. They do not make WagePal a secure vault.
WagePal does not store your fingerprint, face, PIN, password or pattern. Device unlock prompts are handled by Android and your device.
Security controls may behave differently depending on Android version, device manufacturer, device settings, biometric availability, screen-recording behaviour, recent-app preview behaviour and operating-system limitations.
WagePal may provide optional local reminders, normal Android device notifications and a local in-app Notification Centre.
Where Android notification permission has been granted and Android permits delivery, device notifications may appear even when WagePal is closed.
Except for Pro subscription status messages, reminder and notification calculations are performed locally on your device using information already saved in WagePal. Pro subscription status messages are created locally from trusted subscription-entitlement information received through RevenueCat.
WagePal does not currently use remote push messaging, Firebase Cloud Messaging, a cloud notification database, an analytics SDK or an advertising SDK for notifications.
No shift, annual-leave, job, wage, payday, backup or notification information is uploaded to WagePal servers for normal notification functionality.
A WagePal account is not required to use notifications.
Notification-category preferences may be enabled by default inside WagePal. Android notification permission is controlled separately by you and the operating system.
You can disable individual notification categories through WagePal Settings. You can disable all WagePal device notifications through Android settings.
The Smart Shift Reminder uses a conservative, job-specific pattern calculated locally from your saved shift records.
It may notify you when a usual workday appears to be missing from your saved shifts.
Where applicable, WagePal may use locally saved annual-leave records to avoid sending a missing-shift reminder for the same job and date.
This depends on the annual-leave information entered by you. An incomplete, incorrect or deleted annual-leave record may result in a reminder still being shown.
WagePal does not know your actual rota, work schedule, annual-leave approval or employer instructions. A Smart Shift Reminder does not mean WagePal knows that you worked or that a shift was definitely forgotten.
You may choose the time at which the reminder is scheduled.
The Payday Tomorrow reminder uses the relevant job’s locally stored pay cycle, payday rule and selected bank-holiday or work calendar.
It may notify you that payday for a job is due tomorrow.
A payday notification may include the relevant job name. It does not display a wage amount.
The reminder is based on the information saved in WagePal. It does not guarantee when your employer will process or pay your wages.
The Highest Pay Cycle notification may congratulate you when a completed pay cycle becomes your highest estimated gross-pay cycle recorded in WagePal so far.
Where applicable, the calculation may include estimated gross amounts from paid annual-leave records saved within that pay cycle.
This notification only applies when at least two completed pay cycles exist.
It is based on WagePal’s estimated gross-pay calculations and the information you entered. It is not confirmation of actual earnings, holiday pay, employer payment or an official payroll result.
Wage amounts are not displayed in the device notification.
The Backup Completed notification confirms that WagePal has completed an automatic local backup to the Android folder selected by you.
It does not guarantee that the backup file will remain available, be synchronised by a third-party provider, be accepted by another app or be successfully restorable in every situation.
If the selected folder belongs to a cloud-storage, file-sync, file-management or third-party storage service, that service may separately process or synchronise the file according to its own settings and terms.
WagePal may retain Payday Tomorrow, Highest Pay Cycle, Backup Completed and one-time Pro subscription status messages locally in its in-app Notification Centre.
These notifications may have a local read or unread state.
A Smart Shift Reminder may appear as a temporary in-app reminder and may not be retained in the same way.
Only a limited recent notification history is retained locally. Older notification records may be removed automatically.
Notification history, read or unread state and delivery state remain on your device and are excluded from WagePal backup files.
This local history may be cleared when local app data is reset, cleared, deleted or replaced during a restore.
WagePal may also display limited local feature announcements in the in-app Notification Centre, such as information about a newly added feature.
These announcements are created and stored locally on your device. They can be dismissed by you and may be shown only once or for a limited period.
Local feature announcements are not remote push messages, personalised advertising or marketing based on your personal information.
WagePal does not upload your jobs, shifts, annual-leave records, wage information, feature-announcement state or notification history to create or display these announcements.
WagePal may display one-time local in-app messages confirming that:
• WagePal Pro has been activated
• Automatic renewal has been cancelled
• WagePal Pro access has ended
These messages are informational only. They do not create, extend, restore, cancel or determine WagePal Pro entitlement access.
Google Play remains the source of subscription ownership. WagePal grants Pro access only when RevenueCat reports a valid active entitlement through a trusted verification result that meets WagePal’s security and freshness checks.
Local notification records, local messages and user-interface states cannot grant WagePal Pro access.
WagePal configures device notifications with private lock-screen visibility where Android supports it and does not display wage amounts in device notifications.
However, Android, your device manufacturer and your device settings ultimately control how notifications appear.
A job name or other notification wording may still be visible on the lock screen depending on your device settings.
Notifications and reminders are optional informational aids only.
Notification delivery is not guaranteed. Notifications may be delayed, missed, duplicated, prevented or delivered at an unexpected time because of:
• Android notification permission settings
• Battery optimisation or background restrictions
• Device manufacturer behaviour
• Force-stopping WagePal
• The device being switched off
• Device restart behaviour
• Time-zone, date or clock changes
• Do Not Disturb settings
• Notification-channel settings
• Operating-system updates
• Other Android or device limitations
A notification may also be inaccurate if the job, shift, annual-leave, pay-cycle, payday, bank-holiday, work-calendar, backup or other information entered in WagePal is incomplete, outdated or incorrect.
Notifications and reminders are not guaranteed rota records, annual-leave records, employer instructions, official payday confirmations, payroll records, payslips, timesheets or proof of payment.
You remain responsible for recording shifts and annual leave accurately and checking your rota, payday, pay, holiday entitlement and employment information against official sources.
WagePal may include a Help & Feedback feature that opens your chosen email app with a prefilled message.
Support emails are user-initiated. WagePal does not automatically upload screenshots, logs, wage data, shift data, annual-leave data, employer data, notification history or other local records.
Please do not include sensitive wage, employer, shift, annual-leave or personal details unless you choose to and believe it is necessary. If you attach screenshots, hide or crop private details first where possible.
Support responses are for app support only. They are not legal, tax, payroll, employment, financial, banking, accounting or professional advice.
Some WagePal features are free, while some features require an active WagePal Pro subscription.
Core WagePal functionality remains available without WagePal Pro.
WagePal Pro is offered through optional Monthly and Yearly auto-renewing subscriptions. While a valid entitlement remains active, the subscription provides continuing access to the Pro tools currently offered in the applicable version of WagePal.
Pro features currently include, where available:
• Live Payslip Estimate
• Advanced Pay Analytics
• Advanced Pay Enhancements
• Multiple Jobs & Tags
• Automated Backups, including the currently offered local backup and restore tools and automatic backup functionality
• Privacy Mode
• App Lock & Security
The exact free and Pro features may change over time.
There is currently no lifetime purchase.
If a feature is shown as unavailable, billing unavailable, preview-only or coming later, it is not being offered for purchase in that app version.
WagePal offers optional Monthly and Yearly auto-renewing WagePal Pro subscriptions through Google Play.
Before you confirm a purchase, Google Play displays the applicable local price, taxes, billing period and purchase terms.
Payment is charged through your Google Play account.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through Google Play.
You can manage or cancel your subscription through Google Play’s Subscription Centre.
Cancelling a subscription stops future renewal but normally leaves WagePal Pro active until the current paid entitlement period ends. Cancelling does not automatically mean that an immediate refund will be issued.
Uninstalling WagePal does not cancel a WagePal Pro subscription.
Google Play’s terms, billing rules, cancellation process, refund process, taxes, payment methods, country availability and subscription-management tools apply.
WagePal uses RevenueCat to securely validate and manage Google Play purchase acknowledgement, restoration, renewal, cancellation, expiry, refund, revocation and entitlement status.
RevenueCat uses an anonymous technical App User ID because WagePal does not have a WagePal account system.
Pending, declined, failed or unverified purchase attempts do not grant new WagePal Pro access. Where no valid entitlement is available, WagePal remains in Free mode.
Expired, refunded, revoked or charged-back entitlements remove WagePal Pro access.
A cancelled subscription may continue providing WagePal Pro access until its current paid entitlement period ends.
The Restore Purchases option can recover a valid entitlement associated with the applicable Google Play account.
Restoring WagePal Pro does not restore deleted local jobs, shifts, annual-leave records, notes, settings, backups or other local WagePal information.
Internet access is required to purchase WagePal Pro, restore purchases and periodically verify entitlement status.
Recently verified WagePal Pro access may continue temporarily while offline for a limited period of up to three days. Uninterrupted offline Pro access is not guaranteed, and online reverification may be required.
Temporary Google Play, RevenueCat, internet or verification problems may delay purchase activation or restoration. Such a delay does not by itself create an additional charge.
Google Play remains the source of subscription ownership. WagePal grants Pro access only when RevenueCat reports a valid active entitlement through a trusted verification result that meets WagePal’s security and freshness checks.
Local user-interface flags, notification records, local messages or other locally stored display states cannot create or grant WagePal Pro entitlement access.
WagePal does not require a WagePal account.
WagePal itself does not require a WagePal username, email login or password. Purchasing or restoring WagePal Pro through Google Play requires an eligible Google Play account under Google’s applicable terms.
RevenueCat uses an anonymous technical App User ID to associate and manage subscription entitlement information. This anonymous identifier is not a WagePal account and does not provide access to your locally stored jobs, shifts, annual-leave records, wages, notes or backups.
Your Google account and Google Play purchase history are used by Google Play to process, manage, cancel and restore purchases. This is separate from a WagePal account.
If WagePal ever adds accounts, cloud sync or account-based services in the future, the app and legal documents must be updated.
We may update WagePal to fix bugs, improve design, add features, remove features, change feature availability, update bank-holiday data, improve annual-leave tracking, improve notifications, improve security, improve compatibility or meet app-store requirements.
Some updates may change how data is displayed, calculated, stored, notified, exported, backed up or restored. You remain responsible for reviewing estimates, annual-leave records, notification preferences, permissions and settings after updates.
We aim to keep WagePal useful and reliable, but we do not guarantee that WagePal will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device or free from data loss.
WagePal may be affected by Android changes, device limitations, notification permissions, battery restrictions, background-execution restrictions, device manufacturer behaviour, app-store requirements, Google Play behaviour, RevenueCat availability, billing availability, internet availability, entitlement-verification availability, file-provider behaviour, email-app behaviour, backup-folder access or third-party service issues.
We do not guarantee that any reminder, notification, backup task or other background operation will run or be delivered at an exact time or in every situation.
We do not guarantee that WagePal Pro purchase activation, restoration or periodic reverification will always complete immediately or remain continuously available.
WagePal may interact with third-party services or platform features, including:
• Google Play
• RevenueCat, for Google Play subscription validation, acknowledgement, restoration, lifecycle and entitlement management
• Android
• Android’s local notification system
• Device biometric or credential unlock
• Android file picker
• Android folder picker
• Android share sheet
• Email apps
• PDF viewers
• CSV viewers
• File managers
• Cloud-storage apps chosen by you
Those third parties may have their own terms, privacy policies, fees, account requirements and support processes. We are not responsible for services we do not control.
You keep ownership of information you enter into WagePal.
You give WagePal permission to process your information inside the app so the app can provide its features. In the current local-first data model, this processing normally happens on your device.
This local processing may include calculating pay estimates, annual-leave estimates, pay periods, payday dates, notification schedules, job-specific shift patterns, notification suggestions, feature-announcement state and backup-completion status.
If you choose to email support, share screenshots, export files, create backups or send information to us, you give us permission to receive, read, store, respond to and use that information to provide support, investigate problems, improve WagePal and comply with legal duties.
WagePal, including its design, branding, code, text, graphics, icons, layouts, features, app name and related materials, belongs to us or our licensors.
You may use WagePal for personal, lawful use according to these Terms.
You must not copy, resell, redistribute, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, attempt to extract source code, bypass paid-feature restrictions, bypass entitlement checks or misuse WagePal, except where applicable law gives you a right that cannot be excluded.
You must not:
• Use WagePal for unlawful purposes
• Use WagePal to mislead others with edited, incomplete or inaccurate records
• Try to access paid features without a valid entitlement
• Try to bypass, tamper with, disable or manipulate app security, billing, entitlement or access controls
• Interfere with WagePal, Google Play, RevenueCat, Android or third-party services
• Claim that WagePal estimates, annual-leave records, notifications, reminders or other records are official payroll records, official payslips, employer instructions, approved leave records, legal proof or guaranteed employer pay calculations
Your use of WagePal is also covered by the WagePal Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains what data WagePal stores, what stays on your device, what may be shared only when you choose to export, share, email or back up data, what permissions are used, how annual-leave records, local feature announcements and notifications are processed locally, how local notification history is handled, how data can be deleted and how support emails are handled.
It also explains how limited subscription, purchase and entitlement information is processed by Google Play and RevenueCat when you purchase, restore or verify WagePal Pro.
