The Wado Building
WADO is an independently-owned, 100-year old commercial building
on the corner of Chicago Avenue and 41st Street in South Minneapolis.
Built in 1925, for many decades it was a neighborhood grocery store
and has since been the location of many creative entrepreneurs and small businesses,
such as Z Puppets Rosenschnoz, Blue Tree Music Education and most recently, the Clay Pit.
Current owners Chris Griffith (Cherokee Nation citizen) and Shari Aronson
named the building Wado which means “thank you” in Cherokee (ᏩᏙ).
