IF (event) THEN (act) - In coding this is a special kind of concept that helps programmers achieve anything we want. It's called a conditional statement and it's at the very foundation of what I teach kids. simply put, IF, there is some kind of input, THEN, have the computer do something very specific.
Currently, life has us reacting to a new sort of "event". There are so many kinds of activities and input coming to our children now. They are learning culture so much faster then ever before. In order to keep up with how they interpret information, it's time we "act" and give our children more control and autonomy; we can apply their knowledge to help them with STEM concepts so that outdated curriculum doesn't hold back our children from learning at their true potential pace.
At WackyWorld Coding, we offer children an opportunity to finally apply all of their cultural knowledge by using simple graphic editing tools and user friendly coding that makes learning concepts like conditional statements, loops, variables, and boolean statements simple and fun!
Anthony Sweeting has been in education for over 15 years. He began with water safety instruction and then quickly moved on to working with at risk youth. He worked with Teens Against Drugs and Alcohol to bring awareness to children in middle school and high schools in San Diego North County. Eventually, he also worked with the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) in their Operation Hero and Little Hero programs helping children with deployed parents cope with loss and feelings of abandonment, as well as build crucial teamworking and social interaction skills.
After college, Anthony worked abroad at international schools in China as an English teacher, eventually returning to the US where he started working at Chinese immersion schools and other private schools as a technology teacher. It was at this point that Anthony saw the need to create a comprehensive curriculum and slowly developed the concept for WackyWolrd Coding; a place where young learners could apply culture, STEM, and fun all into one program.
