### 1. Single Purpose & Core Functionality
The single purpose of **WA Language Translator** is to provide automated, on-demand language translation of incoming and outgoing chat messages directly within WhatsApp™ Web (`https://web.whatsapp.com`).
We do **not** engage in advertising networks, data brokering, user profiling, or unauthorized surveillance.

#### A. Chat Message Content (Personal Communications)
* **What is processed:** The specific text of WhatsApp messages that you choose to translate (either by hovering, selecting text, or typing into the message composer).
* **How it is used:** The text is processed strictly **in-memory and on-demand** to generate the requested translation.
* **Storage & Retention:** We **never** store, record, or retain your message content, conversation history, sender/recipient names, or phone numbers on any developer server. Once the translated text is delivered back to your screen, the data is immediately discarded from memory.
#### B. User Preferences & Settings (Local Storage)
* **What is stored:** Your chosen target and source languages, UI display preferences (e.g., dark or light mode), daily free translation usage count, and active translation engine preference.
* **Where it is stored:** All preferences are saved exclusively in your browser’s local storage (`chrome.storage.local`). This information never leaves your personal device.
#### C. User-Provided API Keys (Bring Your Own Key - BYOK)
* If you choose to configure your own third-party AI keys (such as OpenAI, Google Gemini, DeepL, or Groq), your keys are saved securely in your browser's local sandbox storage (`chrome.storage.local`).
* Your keys are only transmitted directly to the respective API provider over encrypted HTTPS connections to authenticate your translation requests. We do not have access to your private API keys.
#### D. License Verification
* If you purchase a Pro license, your license key is transmitted via secure HTTPS to our payment platform partner, **Gumroad Inc.** (`https://api.gumroad.com`), solely to verify license validity and unlock unlimited translations.

### 3. What Information We DO NOT Collect
We do **not** collect, store, transmit, or monitor:
* Personally Identifiable Information (such as your name, email address, physical address, or phone number).
* WhatsApp contact lists, phone logs, or media files (images, audio notes, videos, or documents).
* Financial or payment card details (all transactions are securely handled externally by Gumroad).
* Passwords, login credentials, or authentication tokens.
* Web browsing history, bookmarks, or web activity outside of WhatsApp Web.
* Keystrokes, biometric data, or geolocation.

Depending on which translation engine you select, text you request to translate is sent directly via secure, encrypted HTTPS requests to the chosen provider:
1. **Google Translate:** Used as the cloud translation engine for instant translations. Subject to [Google's Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy).
2. **DeepL:** Used if selected by the user with their API key. Subject to [DeepL's Privacy Policy](https://www.deepl.com/privacy).
3. **OpenAI, Groq, Google Gemini:** Used only if the user explicitly configures their own API key.
4. **Local AI (Chrome Built-in AI / Ollama):** Runs completely offline and locally on your own computer without transmitting text across the Internet.
These third-party providers process translation requests in accordance with their respective privacy and enterprise data policies.

**WA Language Translator** complies strictly with the **Chrome Web Store User Data Policy**, including the **Limited Use** requirements:
