The radio room at gate 14 is the home for three computers, three HF radios, two UHF/VHF radios, and a VHF repeater.
The three computers are referred to as the FLex computer, the general use computer, and the Ethernet computer.
The three HF radios are the Flex Software Defined Radio (SDR), the Kenwood 480 HF radio, and the iCom IC-718 HF radio.
The Flex Software Defined Radio (SDR) can be operated from the Flex computer or anywhere in the world using a computer connected to the internet using the TeamViewer program. The computer in the radio room at clubhouse 1 has TeamViewer installed and is the perfect place to operate from if you don't want to go up to gate 14. The Kenwood 480 HF radio can not be operated from the radio room at gate 14 because it does not have a control head. Instead it is connected to a RemoteRig box that allows users the ability to connect to the radio from the control head that is in the radio room at clubhouse 1. Club members can also purchase their own control head and RemoteRig box that will allow them to operate the Kenwood 480 from anywhere there is an internet connection. Some members have a 480 control head and RemoteRig in their home shack while others have a 480 control head and RemoteRig in a Go Kit to take on trips. The iCom IC-718 HF radio can only be operated in the gate 14 radio room.
The YAESU FT-8900R is a four band mobile radio covering the 10 meter, 6 meter, 2 meter, and 70 centimeter bands.
The Kenwood ??? is used to connect to the Echolink computer by using the SignaLink USB Sound Card allowing club members the ability to connect to the club repeater from anywhere in the world using the Echolink program on a computer or the EchoLink app on an iOS or Android phone or tablet.
The Vertex Standard VXR-7000 is the W6LY club repeater. It transmits on 147.615 MHz and receives on 147.015 MHz. It uses a 136.5 CTCSS Tone.
