- A Google Doc Project started by Pittsburg based artist Everist Pipkins, who compiled an extensive spreadsheet of residency opportunities as well as some funding opportunities.
- These Lists contains some international but mainly US based opportunities.
- Also created a Hot Art Tips sheet with useful information for emerging and student artists on the business aspects of being an artist
California Specific
- 18th Street supports artists from around the globe to imagine, research, and develop significant, meaningful new artworks and share them with the public.
- They aim to to provide artists the space and time to take risks, to foster the ideal environment for artists and the public to directly engage, and to create experiences and partnerships that foster positive social change.
- Apply for: visiting artist, local studio artist, or organization in residence
- 2727 California Street is an art and education initiative in an old corner grocery store in South Berkeley
- It includes a shop, an artist residence program, a public print room, a workshop series and summer camp
- Residencies consist of a room in the apartment, a stipend, and support for a project
- Forms could include: a workshop, publication, performance or exhibition, and/or another kind of public program
- The Department of Cultural Affairs’ (DCA) mission is to strengthen quality of life in the City of Los Angeles by stimulating and supporting cultural services and ensuring access to such activities for residents and visitors.
- The Residency Program supports artists in providing community-based, participatory projects in self-selected non-arts venues throughout the City of Los Angeles in order to gather, connect, and inspire audiences with underserved or little exposure to artistic and cultural opportunities.
- Residency projects engage participants in a series of artist-led workshops that are highly participatory and/or educational, and which match thoughtful and meaningful exchanges with appropriate audiences at host organizations in each City Council District.
- Highest ranking is given to residency proposals that will bring thematically appropriate projects into non-arts venues (example: social service centers, senior centers, community centers, libraries, youth centers, rehabilitation centers, etc.)
- A unique art and education program that provides Bay Area artists with access to discarded materials, a stipend, and a large studio space at the Recology San Francisco Recycling & Transfer Station
- This residency encourages conservation of natural resources and promotes new ways of thinking about art and the environment
- Since 1990, +145 professional artists and 40 student artists have completed residencies, making art from discarded materials
- Four-month residency which includes artist speaking to elementary schools and adults about their experiences as well as a 3-day public exhibition at the end including artist talks

- A residency which is part of the Caltech-Huntington Program in Visual Culture (California Institute of Technology & The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens)
- The Art + Research Residency provides the opportunity to develop a project in conversation with the Caltech and Huntington research communities and to teach and work with Caltech students.
- It supports artists and other creative practitioners whose work involves research and experimentation and engages art, humanities, science, and technology in society.
- Commitments: public presentations, teach an undergraduate course you propose, participate in the life of the Caltech & Huntington communities

Residency Fee is $400/week but they sponsor 3 each year
- An opportunity for artists across mediums to work and stay at the beautiful Warnecke Ranch and Vineyard.
- The program is located in Sonoma County, an hour and a half north of San Francisco.
- Artists from a diverse range of abilities and geographical locations are able to find the space and time needed to pursue creative work.
- Chalk Hill Artist Residency offers the use of the artist house, studio space, and access to the ranch property.
- The property's redwood-covered hills, hiking trails, vineyards, and private access to the Russian River are sources of inspiration for residents.

- Located an hour south of San Francisco and 45 minutes west of Palo Alto and Silicon Valley, Djerassi’s 583-acre ranch rises to the crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains, with views west to the Pacific.

- Headlands Center for the Arts is a multidisciplinary, international arts center dedicated to supporting artists; the creative process; and the development of new, innovative ideas and artwork.
- AiR program awards fully sponsored residencies to approximately 50 local, national, and international artists each year.
- Residencies of four to ten weeks include studio space, chef-prepared meals, comfortable housing, and travel and living expense reimbursements.
- AIRs become part of a dynamic community of artists participating in Headlands’ other programs, allowing for exchange and collaborative relationships to develop within the artist community on campus.

- International Residency Program hosts artists at a range of international studios.
- Residencies in London take place at the Elephant Lab Studios (previously called Griffin Gallery Studios), situated alongside the Liquitex Innovation & Development Laboratory.
- Artists have the chance to further their practice, see how acrylics are developed in the lab, host an open studio and experiment with new materials including the full Liquitex range.
- In the US, Liquitext partnered with Residency Unlimited in New York City and Minnesota Street Project in San Francisco.
