Essential Criteria:
A First-Class Honours (H1 or equivalent) Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a high-ranking university in Mathematics or Mathematical Statistics.
Ability to take initiative and engage in research with appropriate independence for PhD-level study, beyond that expected at the Master’s level.
Strong background in mathematical analysis and the theoretical foundations of statistics, including familiarity with asymptotic theory (e.g., Asymptotic Statistics by van der Vaart or higher level).
Experience in programming, preferably in Python.
Knowledge of tuning parameter selection in traditional nonparametric methods or deep learning, and the related theories is a plus.
