The very first work in the series depicts a still life. It was from this piece that the development of my style began. The image of this painting appeared in my mind at night as I was trying to fall asleep. I suddenly envisioned this composition and quickly got up to sketch it. Over time, this work emerged from that initial sketch.

In this work, I wanted to depict a sense of calm. There are moments when you feel at peace, when you’re comfortable and truly in the moment, thinking about how beautiful life is and how much exciting stuff lies ahead. But then, there are also times when you feel sad or overwhelmed. In those moments, all you have to do is remember lying on the grass, gazing up at the sky. And you felt so calm, more than ever before. That was the intention behind this piece.
But how can a restless, anxious person truly capture calm? It’s impossible. And so, the work turned out just as it did.

I wanted to portray a woman who is self-assured, unashamed, and passionate about what she does. A woman who never accepts less than she deserves, who rejects anyone who would hurt her, who never betrays herself, and who feels at home in her own body.
She is not me. But I want to be her.
