Vanita Vishram is a century old institution founded with the efforts of two social workers Late Smt. Shivgauriben Gajjar and Late Smt. Bajigauriben Munshi, on 15th May, 1907 for the welfare of helpless widows and divorcees. Today it has become one of the largest educational institutions that cater to the academic requirements of women right from the Pre-School Section to the Post Graduate levels in just one campus having 15 institutions in its fold. It offers the best of facilities for education, vocational training, sports and self-employment to almost 13000 girl students every year. Thus, it is a role model in the area of empowerment and education of women and occupies an eminent position as an institution working for the welfare of the women and will continue to strive to meet the aspirations of women in the years to come.
Having been established on the auspicious day of Guru Purnima, July 9, 1998, the name of Vanita Vishram Women's College of Commerce is known far and wide primarily for its academics. It is a self-financed English Medium Institution having permanent affiliation with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat and 2(f) and 12(B) status. It was previously affiliated to S.N.D.T. Women's University, Mumbai. From the academic year 2017-18, the college also commenced the B.B.A. programme. Within a short span of time, it has opened up the doors of possibilities for Women's Education in the field of Commerce & Management and has made its own distinct name in the South Gujarat Region. Keeping in mind the professional escalation and employability of students, the college also offers various career-oriented, Professional and highly lucrative courses in the domain of Computers, Banking and Soft Skills Development.
