Professor Rahim Tafazolli, CBE, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering FREng, FIEEE, FIET, FCIC and fellow of Wireless World Research Forum (WWRF) and Director of the Centre for Communication Systems Research at the University of Surrey.
Roberto Cascella works as Chief Technology Officer at the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO). He also coordinates the two technical ECSO WGs with a high impact on the European cybersecurity strategy focused on the definition of the cybersecurity R&I roadmap for trusted and resilient technologies, and the establishment of trusted supply chains at EU level. He represents ECSO in different committees, including the SCCG established under the Cybersecurity Act. Roberto also served as Project Coordinator of the European Cybersecurity Community Support project (ECCO) (2022-2024) that received funding from DEP to support the activities necessary to develop, promote, coordinate and organise the work of the Cybersecurity Competence Community at European Level, within the scope and operations of the ECCC and National Coordination Centres Network. Roberto holds a Ph.D. (2007) in ICT from University of Trento, an M.Sc. in Telecommunication engineering from Politecnico di Torino and KTH Stockholm.
Weizhi Meng is a Full Professor in the School of Computing and Communications, Lancaster University, United Kingdom. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the City University of Hong Kong. He was a recipient of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Outstanding Paper Award for Young Engineers/Researchers in both 2014 and 2017. He also received the IEEE ComSoc Best Young Researcher Award for Europe, Middle East, & Africa Region (EMEA) in 2020. His primary research interests are blockchain technology, cyber security and artificial intelligence in security including intrusion detection, blockchain applications, smartphone security, biometric authentication, and IoT security. He serves as general chair for various international conferences such as ACM CCS 2023 and ESORICS 2022. He is an ACM distinguished speaker.
Marcel Moritz (PhD) is senior public law lecturer, head of the master degree in digital law at Lille University, France. He is member of CERAPS lab (UMR8026). Fluent in German, French and English, Marcel Moritz has been partner of several national and European funded projects. He is also French qualified lawyer.
Rongxing Lu is a full professor at Queen’s School of Computing. Previously, he served as the Acting Director of the Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity (CIC), held the Mastercard IoT Research Chair, and was a professor in the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). Before that, he was a tenure-track assistant professor at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, from April 2013 to August 2016. Rongxing Lu worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Waterloo from May 2012 to April 2013. He was awarded the most prestigious “Governor General’s Gold Medal”, when he received his PhD degree from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada, in 2012; and won the 8th IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Asia Pacific (AP) Outstanding Young Researcher Award, in 2013. Dr. Lu is an IEEE Fellow. His research interests include IoT-Big Data security and privacy, privacy enhancing technologies, and applied cryptography. He has published extensively in his areas of expertise with H-index 95 and citations 40,000+ from Google Scholar as of June 2025, and was the recipient of 10 best (student) paper awards from some reputable journals and conferences. Dr. Lu served/ serves as the Chair of 2022-2023 IEEE ComSoc CIS-TC (Communications and Information Security Technical Committee), and the founding Co-chair of IEEE TEMS Blockchain and Distributed Ledgers Technologies Technical Committee (BDLT-TC). Dr. Lu is an IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer (2024-2025). Dr. Lu is the Winner of 2016-17 and 2023-24 Excellence in Teaching Award in FCS, UNB.
Dr. Basak (Bashaq) Ozan Ozparlak is an Assistant Professor in IT Law at Özyeğin University Faculty of Law. She completed her master’s degree in European Union Law and a PhD in Private Law. Since 2016, she has been active in both industry and academia, focusing on the legal and regulatory aspects of emerging technologies. Her research interests include AI and law, autonomous systems, cybersecurity law, and privacy. She continues to contribute to the field through research, teaching, and participation in national and international projects. She has received the Excellency in Research Award from her university in June 2025 and also in 2025, she was selected amongt the “100 Brilliant and Inspiring Women in 6G – List for 2025” by Women in 6G Platform. Her recent research area is TN and NTN integration and its regulatory aspects including spectrum.
