The Area

Vue du Chateau Gite in in an elevated position, between two villages, (both within walking distance).

Lessac is 10-15mins walk away and has a lively bar/restaurant offering 'plat de jour' or 'à la carte ' dining. They also sell a small selection of bread and groceries. There is a church, Post Office and a hairdressing salon. It is the home of a Sunday football team with it's own little stadium.

St Germain de Confolens is a medieval village and is less than 10 mins walk away. It has a beautiful ruined medieval chateau (castle) and church. The chateau is used for local events and displays (dance, falconry, archery, etc).

There is a bar in the village and the local public recreation area has a 'pop-up' restaurant.

The nearest town, Confolens, is 10mins drive away with bars, restaurants and supermarkets, there is a large river with kayak and pedalo hire and an outdoor pool with diving boards and water slides. In August there is also an International Music and Dance Festival

Within 9 miles we have Circuit du Val de Vienne which is a motor racing circuit hosting local and international championships and track days.

We are 2hrs from La Rochelle, Bordeaux and Royan. Great for days out.

Why not stay here and spend the afternoon painting the views from the Gite? Try it, you may surprise yourself.

There's a great view of the Chateau but also opposite there is a working quarry which affords beautiful tones of brown, oranges and yellows which really break up the greenery.
