How many years have you been at VU?
- I am in my 29th year of teaching at Vincennes University. I have had the privilege to have been teaching in the Agribusiness program since 1994.
What are your favorite things about being at VU?
- I enjoy getting to know my students and watching them grow both academically and in their skills through their time here at Vincennes University. The classes are small enough that I get to know all the students and help them with their individual needs. The classes are small enough that each class becomes an Agribusiness family.
What are you involved with the Vincennes Community?
- I serve on several Agricultural and community boards in our community. I strongly feel that we all need to give back to our communities. My grandfather always told me, “Our Service to others is the Rent we pay for our time on this earth.” I have taken this to heart. I believe that we all need to work together to make out communities better and speak up on behalf of the agricultural community for the good of all.
What have been your favorite moments within the Agribusiness Program?
- My favorite moments have been watching my students be successful at Vincennes University and in their lives. I love watching students Nothing is better than to have graduates come back and tell me about their accomplishments no matter how small or large. Sometimes I even get a “thank you” for a certain item that I did not even realize happened while they were in the Agribusiness Program at Vincennes University. It is an honor to have an impact on the students graduating and who are successful individuals in their communities.
- My husband, Mike, and I are owners of a corn and soybean farm. We have used our farm to host various events and demonstration plots. Students are able to come to our farm to learn a variety of topics and see them in a real world setting. I believe that it takes different types of learning for students to develop their skills. Some do well with just learning from a book. However, others do better with a combination of books, hands-on projects as well as seeing it being practiced.
