Gilberto Berardinelli received the first and second level degrees (cum laude) in telecommunication engineering from the University of L’Aquila, Italy, in 2003 and 2005, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Aalborg University, Denmark, in 2010. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Wireless Communication Networks (WCN) Section, Aalborg University. He has received twice (in 2019 and 2023) a 'DFF Research Project 1' grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark, for his research on radio resource management and ultra-reliable low latency communication. He has also been involved in multiple European projects, and he is currently coordinator and technical manager of the Horizon Europe 6G-SHINE project, focused on pioneering technology components for short-range wireless communication with extreme requirements. His current research interests are mostly focused on physical layer, medium access control, and radio resource management design for 6G systems and beyond.
Alessandro Vanelli-Coralli is a Full Professor at the University of Bologna and, since 2022, a Senior Researcher at the Digital Integrated Circuits and Systems group at ETH Zurich (CH). During 2003 and 2005, he was a Visiting Scientist at Qualcomm Inc. (San Diego, CA), working in the Corporate R&D Department on Mobile Communication Systems. His research activity focuses on Wireless Communication with specific emphasis on Satellite Communications. He participates in national and international research projects on satellite mobile communication systems serving as Scientific Responsible and Prime Contractor for several European Space Agency and European Commission funded projects, among which the H2020 Dynasat project, the HE SNS 6G-NTN project, and the ESA EAGER Study. He participates to industrial and scientific fora and bodies. He is currently the Responsible for the Vision and Research Strategy task force of the NetworldEurope SatCom Working Group, and he is the University of Bologna delegate for the 6G-IA, ETSI, and 3GPP. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Restart Foundation. Dr. Vanelli-Coralli has been appointed member of the Editorial Board of the Wiley InterScience Journal on Satellite Communications and Networks and has been guest co-Editor for several special issues in of international scientific journals. He has served in the organization committees of scientific conferences and since 2010 he is the general Co-Chairman of the IEEE ASMS Conference. He co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals and conferences, and he is co-recipient of several Best Paper Awards. Dr. Vanelli-Coralli is an IEEE Senior Member and the 2019 recipient of the 2019 IEEE Satellite Communications Technical Recognition Award.
