Fan Liu (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), Beijing, China, in 2013 and 2018 respectively, respectively. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the School of System Design and Intelligent Manufacturing (SDIM), Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). He has previously held academic positions with the University College London (UCL), first as a Visiting Researcher from 2016 to 2018, and then as a Marie Curie Research Fellow from 2018 to 2020. His research interests include signal processing and wireless communications, and in particular in the area of Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC). He has 10 papers selected as IEEE ComSoc Best Readings. He is the founding Academic Chair of the IEEE ComSoc ISAC Emerging Technology Initiative (ISAC-ETI), an Elected Member of the IEEE SPS Sensor Array and Multichannel Technical Committee (SAM-TC), a Founding Member of the IEEE SPS ISAC Technical Working Group (ISAC-TWG), an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IEEE Open Journal of Signal Processing and IEEE Communications Letters, and a Guest Editor of IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications (JSAC), IEEE Wireless Communications, and IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine. He has served as the organizer and Co-Chair for several workshops, special sessions and tutorials in flagship IEEE conferences, including ICC, GLOBECOM, ICASSP, SPAWC, and MobiCom. He is a TPC Co-Chair of the 2nd–4th IEEE Joint Communication and Sensing (JC&S) Symposium, a Symposium Co-Chair for IEEE GLOBECOM 2023, and a Track Co-Chair for the IEEE WCNC 2024. He is a member of the IMT-2030 (6G) ISAC Task Group. He was listed among the World's Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University for citation impact from 2021 to 2023, and among the 2023 Elsevier Highly-Cited Chinese Researchers. He was the recipient of the 2023 IEEE Communications Society Stephan O. Rice Prize, 2023 IEEE ICC Best Paper Award, 2023 IEEE/CIC ICCC 2023 Best Paper Award, 2022 First Prize of Science and Technology Progress of China Institue of Communications, 2021 IEEE Signal Processing Society Young Author Best Paper Award, 2019 Best Ph.D. Thesis Award of Chinese Institute of Electronics, 2018 EU Marie Curie Individual Fellowship, and has been named as an Exemplary Reviewer for IEEE TWC/TCOM/COMML for 5 times.
Alessandro Vanelli-Coralli is a Full Professor at the University of Bologna and, since 2022, a Senior Researcher at the Digital Integrated Circuits and Systems group at ETH Zurich (CH). During 2003 and 2005, he was a Visiting Scientist at Qualcomm Inc. (San Diego, CA), working in the Corporate R&D Department on Mobile Communication Systems. His research activity focuses on Wireless Communication with specific emphasis on Satellite Communications. He participates in national and international research projects on satellite mobile communication systems serving as Scientific Responsible and Prime Contractor for several European Space Agency and European Commission funded projects, among which the H2020 Dynasat project, the HE SNS 6G-NTN project, and the ESA EAGER Study. He participates to industrial and scientific fora and bodies. He is currently the Responsible for the Vision and Research Strategy task force of the NetworldEurope SatCom Working Group, and he is the University of Bologna delegate for the 6G-IA, ETSI, and 3GPP. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Restart Foundation. Dr. Vanelli-Coralli has been appointed member of the Editorial Board of the Wiley InterScience Journal on Satellite Communications and Networks and has been guest co-Editor for several special issues in of international scientific journals. He has served in the organization committees of scientific conferences and since 2010 he is the general Co-Chairman of the IEEE ASMS Conference. He co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals and conferences, and he is co-recipient of several Best Paper Awards. Dr. Vanelli-Coralli is an IEEE Senior Member and the 2019 recipient of the 2019 IEEE Satellite Communications Technical Recognition Award.
Mohamed-Slim Alouini, was born in Tunis, Tunisia. He earned his Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 1998 before serving as a faculty member at the University of Minnesota and later at Texas A&M University at Qatar. In 2009, he became a founding faculty member at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), where he currently is the Al-Khawarizmi Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the holder of the UNESCO Chair on Education to Connect the Unconnected. Dr. Alouini is a Fellow of the IEEE and OPTICA and his research interests encompass a wide array of research topics in wireless and satellite communications. He is currently particularly focusing on addressing the technical challenges associated with information and communication technologies (ICT) in underserved regions and is committed to bridging the digital divide by tackling issues related to the uneven distribution, access to, and utilization of ICT in rural, low-income, disaster-prone, and hard-to-reach areas.
