Objectives

The Goal

The VSTE VE PLN will provide the venue and structure for educators to network in participation of VSTE Survive the Summer to learn how to play the survival game of Minecraft in order to appreciate some of what our students experience as Minecraft gamers. Participants will help track their achievements. VSTE will award a certificate of participation for those who complete all objectives. All educators are welcome whether seeking a certificate or not. Play may continue well beyond meeting requirements if desired.

These are the achievements required for the certificate

  1. Join Minecraft Summer of Survival 2019, by VSTE Virtual Environments PLN on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/VSTEVEPLN/ ), if you haven’t already and introduce yourself. Be sure to give us your Minecraft name.
  2. Survive your first night - build a home outside the safe area.
    1. Hint: You might want to build into mountain sides so you can tunnel at night and find resources. We call them "hidey-holes!"
    2. Share your home with a friend - make your life easier!
    3. Post a picture on the VSTE Virtual Environments PLN page of your home and important accessories. Share how things are going for you.
  3. Continue to learn important skills that you need to know:
    1. Gathering resources, do some mining and learn crafting.
    2. You will need a farm next. Gather some animals and plant some crops.
  4. Participate in two synchronous meetings in Minecraft.
    1. Be sure to connect with K4sons or Jazmemo during these meetings
    2. Try to attend Minecraft Monday on July 1st at 8 PM Eastern Daylight Time as one of the two
    3. Consider joining some adventures the veteran players announce on Facebook (VSTE Virtual Environments PLN)
    4. Let us know if you want/need some one on one time to get started
  5. Explore new parts of the world, post pictures on VSTE VE PLN community on Google+ with a short post about what you saw. (There is safety in numbers, take some buddies. See VSTE Virtual Environments PLN for help connecting.)
  6. Share an “AH-HA” moment on the VSTE Virtual Environments PLN page in Facebook.
    1. If you find a helpful tutorial on YouTube or other link, share it on VSTE Virtual Environments PLN
