Badges 2017

This is the official Summer of Survival badge for summer 2017. If you completed all the achievements you will be awarded one from VSTE Executive Director, Karen Richardson. Congratulations!

Additional badges are awarded here for specific participants who went above and beyond! Thank you for making this experience extra rich for all of us!

"Bented," our guest from East Coast Miners, was available to help the adults and created his own amazing underground fortress in VSTE's Summer of Survival. He gets the Student Leader Award! Congratulations, Bented!

Linda Gielen built the most amazing structures in our survival world. She created a castle monestary complete with tombs of the saints, and winery. Her natural history museum had a replica of a dinosaur skelleton she and Cats_4_Change found in a deep trench, offices of famous fictional archeologists, and other exhibits. She created post offices in both of our cities so we could leave each other surprises. She earned the Awesome Architect badge! Congratulations, "MrsG."

Laura Briggs built several things that were useful to the community including a mining tutorial which I'm sure we will use for future cohorts of the survival experience. She get the Project Leader award for her Flower Forest project in which many of us took part in building a beautiful multifacited structure at her direction near /warp novice. Congratulations, Laura!

Lisa Alconcel was the first among us to finish all the achievements for VSTE's Summer of Survival! She gave us hope that it could be done and didn't need to take all summer. Congratulations on your 1st to Finish badge, Lisa!

Joseph Knight was good at so many things! He had many requests to keep the game focus on the next logical objective and kept the console manager on her toes. He led the charge into the Nether and End World and beyond with Dakotah at his side. Congratulations on your Mob Militant badge, Joseph!

Dakotah was our educational cheerleader, Fourth of July picnic host, and the best storyteller among us in his Google + posts from VSTE's Summer of Survival. If there was an adventure to be had, he was in the middle of it. Thank you for enriching our experience, Dakotah. Congratulations on your Beloved Storyteller and Practical Professor badge!

Beth, our "Hidy Hole" quick start guide was also the one to create maps and paths around the survival world to help us find each other. Master of compass and clock making she is the first one to make sense of a new world in any realm. Congratulations on your Map Maker badge, Beth!

One person in our little group often had to get up early or stay up late to be with us in our many adventures. Sometimes she worked and explored while we were sound asleep I'm sure. Olive earns the badge "Time Traveler" for managing to meet with us from another continent and a time zone far removed from our own. I absolutely loved when she was there and I could ask everyone to introduce themselves and tell where they were from. This is the magic of virtual environments!

I don't know what to say about Cats4Change! She had a multiple personality. We never new if she was herself or her daughter. Ruth was lucky to have a built in Minecraft Guide! Many of us needed that. Because Cats4Change became one of our most prolific contributers in our Google+ community and she continues to login and explore a month after the end of our survival experiment, she get the Explorer badge!

Last, but far from least, is our idea girl, faithful participant, encourager of all, Mary AKA Mainecakes. Leader of East Coast Miners, she knows how to get things going and include everyone in what we are doing. She helped novices with Discord, Minecraft, Google+ and more. We couldn't have had VSTE Survive the Summer without her. She gets the Community Collaborator award! Congratulations, "Mainecakes!"
