ACC Upwind Performance Tuner

The ACC Upwind Performance Tuner (web app) is designed for Vsk5 sailors to determine the optimal foresail, True Wind Angle (TWA) and Target Speed based on True Wind Speed (TWS). It provides a scatter plot visualization showing the recommended sail (Genoa or Jib) for different wind conditions.

1. Understanding the Scatter Plot

• The chart plots True Wind Speed (TWS) (knots) on the X-axis and True Wind Angle (TWA) (degrees) on the Y-axis.

• Blue dots represent conditions where the Genoa is recommended.

• Red dots indicate conditions where the Jib is the better choice.

• Vertical green, yellow, and red lines represent Beaufort scale wind force levels, helping sailors understand wind intensity.

2. How to Use the App

Basic Usage:

1. View the Chart: Identify the sail selection based on plotted wind conditions.

2. Interpret the Colors:

   • Blue dots = Genoa

   • Red dots = Jib

3. Check Wind Force Annotations:

   • Green lines mark Force 4-5 (Moderate breeze)

   • Yellow line marks Force 6 (Strong breeze)

   • Red lines mark Force 7+ (High winds and gale conditions)
