About me

My name is Vinícius, and I'm a researcher and professor at the Brazilian Institute of Education, Development and Research (IDP), São Paulo, Brazil. Previously, I was a post-doc researcher at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) with a FAPESP scholarship. I hold a PhD in Political Science from the University of Brasilia (UnB) and was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Davis (2023-24). Before that, I was a Visiting Graduate Student at the University of California, San Diego (2017-18).

At the Center for Studies in Political Parties (CEPP/UFSCar), I research party membership, intraparty democracy, and party systems from a comparative perspective. For my Post-Doc research, funded by The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), I have conducted the first national survey with party members in Brazil, working primarily with quantitative and experimental methods.

I work as Brazil's country anchor for the Democratic Accountability and Linkages Project (DALP), hosted at Duke University. I am also a member of the Affective Polarization Research Group (UC Davis), coordinated by Professor James Adams.
