A buyer in Coimbatore once asked us for pneumatic compact cylinders at a price 22% below our quote. We asked which supplier gave that number. He couldn't answer — because the quote had no seal material listed, no stroke tolerance, nothing. That's the market right now. Pneumatic compact cylinders get treated like a commodity part until the day one fails mid-shift and a production line stops. Procurement teams sourcing from pneumatic compact cylinders manufacturers rarely ask the right five questions before signing a PO. This piece is those five questions, plus what actually separates a cylinder built to run for a decade from one that limps to eighteen months.
Bore size and stroke length get all the attention in an RFQ. Fair enough — they're the easy numbers to compare across quotes. But rod material and seal compound decide whether the cylinder survives your actual shop floor, not a datasheet's idea of one.
Most compact cylinders built to ISO 21287 come in bore sizes from 20mm to 100mm, with the newer 2018 revision extending that range up to 200mm. Stroke length is capped at 500mm under the standard, referencing ISO 4393 for nominal increments. That's the geometry. What the geometry doesn't tell you is seal compound behaviour.
NBR seals handle general-purpose air lines fine and cost less. PUR seals last longer under higher cycle rates and resist abrasion better, which matters if your application runs three shifts. We switched several export orders to PUR as standard in 2022 after a Middle East buyer reported seal wear at month nine on an NBR-sealed batch running continuous cycles in ambient heat above 45°C. That one email changed our default spec sheet.
Foot mount, flange mount, trunnion — buyers often pick based on what their old cylinder used, not what the new application needs. A flange mount under lateral load it wasn't designed for will crack the front cover within a year. Ask your engineer, not your habit.
1. What's your cushioning method, and is it adjustable? A bad answer: "It cushions fine." ISO 21287 cylinders use fixed cushioning by design — there's no adjustable option in the standard itself. A supplier who claims adjustable cushioning on a true 21287-compliant unit either doesn't understand the standard or is selling you something else labeled wrong.
2. Can I get a material certificate for the piston rod? A bad answer: "We use quality steel." Which steel? Stainless 304, hardened carbon steel, chrome-plated — each behaves differently under corrosive or humid conditions. No certificate, no proof.
3. What's your rejection rate on incoming raw material? A bad answer: silence, or a vague "very low." Anyone running real quality control has a number and knows it cold.
4. How do you handle a defect found after installation? A bad answer: "We'll handle it case by case." That's not a policy — that's a negotiation you'll lose after the shipment has already cleared customs and installation labor is sunk cost.
5. Which countries have you exported this exact product line to? A bad answer: a generic "many countries." Export compliance differs by destination — CE marking requirements aren't the same as what a Gulf-region buyer needs.
Fewer unplanned line stops. A cylinder rated correctly for cycle rate and duty avoids premature seal failure — the single biggest cause of unplanned downtime in pneumatic-driven assembly lines.
Lower total cost of ownership, even against a cheaper unit quote, once you factor replacement frequency and labor hours per swap.
Dimensional interchangeability under ISO 21287 means you're not locked into one brand for spares , a genuine advantage buyers underweight.
Reduced compressed air consumption in a properly sized compact cylinder versus an oversized standard cylinder doing the same job.
Documentation that survives an audit, which matters more than most buyers realize until an export customer's QA team asks for it.
Space savings up to 40–50% over standard ISO 15552 cylinders of equivalent bore and stroke, which matters directly when panel real estate is tight.
We're based in India, close to major port infrastructure that keeps lead times realistic for both domestic wholesalers and export accounts. That's not a footnote — it's why a Faridabad-based buyer and a Rotterdam-based importer can both get predictable shipping windows from the same production run. Being a Pneumatic compact cylinders trader in India with in-house manufacturing, rather than a pure trading house, also means we control quality at the source instead of inheriting someone else's inconsistency three supply-chain layers removed.
We've been manufacturing pneumatic components since 2013. We don't outsource core machining — it happens on our own floor, which is why we can trace a defect back to a specific batch instead of shrugging. We currently export to 31 countries, and every one of those relationships started with a buyer testing a small order before trusting us with a container-load one.
Send us your bore size, stroke length, mounting style, and expected cycle rate — that's all we need to quote accurately. Our minimum order quantity for standard bore sizes is 50 units; custom strokes may carry a different MOQ, which we'll confirm on request. We respond to every RFQ within 24 hours on business days. Email your specification sheet or reach out through our website directly.
Pneumatic compact cylinders aren't glamorous parts, but they're the ones that quietly decide whether your line runs or stalls. The cheapest quote and the right quote are rarely the same document. Ask the five questions above before the next PO goes out, not after the first failure. That's where procurement teams save real money — not on the invoice, but on everything that invoice doesn't mention.
ISO 21287 defines the most common bores as 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 63mm, 80mm, and 100mm. The newest edition of this standard (2018) added the capacity for bores up to 200mm. We have the entire list and can offer a quote for non-standard strokes;
The piston and rod assembly is located within the barrel rather than sticking out, resulting in around a 40–50% reduction in overall length for the same bore/stroke combination. The drawback is that compact cylinders cannot be cushioned, so if you require advanced end-of-stroke control a regular bore may be more appropriate.
Both. As pneumatic compact cylinders suppliers, you find us providing to wholesalers, OEM manufacturers and brand owners who private label in their name.
Domestic orders within India, usually ship in 7–10 working days, Lead times for export orders depend on country and on documentation requirements We will confirm a target date at quote stage rather than make a blanket promise for lead time for each country.
Yes. We will provide ISO certification and material test certificates upon request free of charge.
NBR is our standard seal for general-purpose applications; PUR is available for high-cycle or high-temperature environments at a modest cost difference. Tell us your operating conditions and we'll recommend the right one rather than upsell the more expensive option by default.
We manufacture in-house and also work with a vetted network for volume overflow during peak season. If a specific order is overflow-sourced, we disclose that upfront rather than let a buyer assume everything comes off our own line.
