SEER Alliance (Sustainable Engineering and Education Research) — a dedicated research group committed to solving complex environmental challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration, systems innovation, and implementation-focused solutions. The SEER Alliance bridges academia, industry, and governance to develop scalable, region-specific models that promote environmental resilience, circular economy practices, and climate-smart infrastructure. It serves as a platform to translate deep research into actionable strategies that support urban and industrial sustainability transitions.
At the heart of Dr. Cheela’s work is pioneering research in Waste Systems Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on decarbonization and circular economy pathways. His ongoing research focuses on waste-to-value transformation, including the upcycling of construction and demolition waste, organic waste valorization, and microplastic mitigation. He integrates tools such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Life Cycle Costing (LCC), and Industrial Ecology to quantify environmental benefits and economic viability, thereby guiding decision-makers in choosing sustainable alternatives.
Looking ahead, Dr. Cheela’s research agenda is geared toward smart waste systems, AI-enabled resource recovery, and low-carbon construction technologies using geopolymer materials and industrial by-products. He is exploring climate-responsive infrastructure models, nature-based solutions, and circular economy frameworks. His future work will further advance digital sustainability planning tools, and community-scale processing systems, and support policy design for climate-resilient urban ecosystems and resource-efficient industrial clusters.
This research directly contributes to India’s flagship initiatives, including the Swachh Bharat Mission, Smart Cities Mission, AMRUT, Waste to Wealth Mission, and the National Mission on Sustainable Habitat. His innovations in emission reduction, energy efficiency, and waste valorization also align with the National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE) and the National Bio-Energy Mission, supporting India's broader climate strategy under the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC).
Furthermore, Dr. Cheela’s work advances key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
SDG 13: Climate Action
Through the SEER Alliance, Dr. Cheela is not only producing high-impact research but also fostering a collaborative ecosystem that integrates science, engineering, and policy to deliver real-world, scalable climate solutions. His contributions are shaping the transition toward a circular, low-carbon, and resource-resilient India, supporting both national ambitions and global sustainability goals.
