The more affordable headset, Oculus Go, is reaching many industries in its attempt to get more people familiar and excited about virtual reality. The adult industry is also taking notice and some studios have reported that VR has boosted their revenue already.

One of the adult entertainment companies reporting a boost in revenue is Naughty America. CEO, Andreas Hronopoulos, calls it a game changer. With the affordable price, the ideal size and how easy it is to use the Oculus Go, it’s become the perfect device to boost sales and reach a wider audience.

The head of another VR-focused adult entertainment company, BaDoinkVR, Xavi Clos said they expect it to serve as a major gateway to their content. He has also stated that the Oculus Go is the perfect device for porn; and many others are probably agreeing right now.

While it’s hard to foretell just how big the VR porn market will or may become, it’s no surprise that this industry would want to be involved with virtual reality technology. There are already several websites catering to VR enthusiast audiences who are strictly looking for mature content.

The majority of VR porn videos available today are shot in point of view style (POV), portraying the leading character from the torso down. Viewers wear a headset that makes them feel like they’re in on the action, rather than just observing. While most views are 180-degrees, just having the ability to look around in a 3D environment offers a more immersive and realistic experience than traditional 2D pornos.

VR porn simply continues to grow and now you can find virtual reality porn that includes super-heroines; yes, this seems to be a big hit in the adult entertainment industry.

It’s likely that Facebook isn’t looking to market their Oculus Go in relation to the adult entertainment industry, but it’s safe to say that this industry is going to use this ideal technology in their own way regardless.

In 2016 the Samsung Gear VR headset was the most popular device used to access content on the adult site BadoinkVR. And it accounted for roughly 40% of all usage. 23% was Google Cardboard, 25% of all downloaded videos were the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Respectively, Google Daydream and Playstation VR accounted for 3% and 9%.

In 2017 those numbers shifted somewhat. 36.8% of downloaded videos on the site was Gear VR and 19.6% were the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Just 11.1% was Playstation VR and Google Daydream was still in the rear at 4.3%.

So what do these numbers tell us? It tells us that higher-end VR headsets were being used to access adult VR content and fewer Cardboard users over a year’s time. The Oculus Go could accelerate this trend and because it’s an affordable headset that would be ideal for watching VR porn, it’s very likely the porn industry will gain a wider VR audience this year.
